Find cottages in South BrentVisit South Brent

South Brent is one of Devon's best kept secrets, on the southern edge of Dartmoor, in the valley of the River Avon. The village centre falls within the Dartmoor National Park and offers visitors the perfect base from which to explore Dartmoor and its surrounds.

A haven for anyone who enjoys exploring the more rural corners of England, South Brent is rich in cultural heritage and there are several ruins from buildings that date back to the Bronze Age. Atop of Brent Hill lie the ruins of an ancient chapel and windmill from 1790 and on the stunning moorlands there are many barrows and hut circles that date back hundreds of years. The view from the top of this hill is well worth the climb and the panoramic vistas of rolling hills, dales and moors are unrivalled.

South Brent has a thriving community and this once quiet town is now home to many shops that sell local produce and goods. There are many original buildings that line the small roads in the village, but modern houses and stores are also scattered in between, creating a fascinating contrast between a rural farm village and a modern town. There are several restaurants and public houses in the village and traditional British fare is served in many of the local eateries.

Outdoor enthusiasts will be spoilt for choice with activities in South Brent and just two miles outside the town is a golf course that combines moorland and parkland golf on the same course. The surrounding moors are perfect for exploring by horseback or by foot an there are many walking and riding trails that will allow you to explore the surrounding countryside. South Brent is also situated on the National Cycle Network and offers easy access to the mountain bike 'Green Lanes' on Dartmoor.

Come and discover a slice of the English countryside in South Brent; search for cottages in South Brent today.
