Find cottages in LyntonVisit Lynton

The pretty town of Lynton nestles on the scenic north Devon coast. It is ideally located within easy reach of Exmouth National park, which is famous worldwide for its expanse of stunning, unspoilt landscape, where wild ponies and red deer graze in peace.

Walkers head to Lynton to join the South West Coast Path. Make the most of the dramatic views from alongside the Valley of the Rocks, home to a herd of wild goats. Follow the trail up the East Lyn River, and you will be transfixed by the waterfalls that tumble near the historic Watersmeet House. There is a fine selection of cafes and restaurant in the town, many of which serve fresh, local produce. If shopping is your passion, you will be delighted by the variety of quirky boutiques that line the charming streets.

There is plenty to do for active visitors. Several local stables offer horse-riding days for all ages, and there is a well- used mountain bike trail that runs across Exmoor. Putting and tennis courts are available locally and keen anglers will be pleased to hear that permits are available to fish in the well-stocked East Lyn River.

Nearby Lynmouth Bay is famed throughout the West Country for its huge waves, making it a perfect destination for more experienced surfers. If you prefer a more sedate pace, hop on board one of the fabulous boat rips that regularly depart from the bay. Children will be delighted by a ride on the Victorian Cliff Railway, a charming water powered train service that runs between Lynton and Lymouth. Here, the traveller is treated to unrivalled views across the Bay and, on a clear day, right across to Wales.

Come and explore this unspoilt corner of England; search Lynton holiday cottages today.
