Dartmoor actually has two national parks as well as five areas of outstanding natural beauty, a UNESCO World Heritage site, Geopark and Biosphere Reserve. It's also famous as the location for Conan Doyle's 'Hound of the Baskervilles'. It has 368 square miles of windswept, dramatic and uncrowded moors to enjoy!

Woodmans Stoup is situated in the conservation village of Colyford located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This detached Grade II Listed period farmhouse dates from the 17th century, but has origins that possibly date back earlier than this. The property is a traditionally built thatched cottage and has a number of leaded light windows, some of which are shuttered. The property itself has an immense amount of period character with many original features still insitu such as inglenook fireplaces, flagstone floors, exposed beams, timbers and window seats, all of which combine to create a delightful period ambience and an impressive holiday cottage. The property has been decorated and furnished to a high standard, and is ideal for families or groups to get together. Colyford sits on the A3052 midway between Lyme Regis and Sidmouth, and one mile from the beach which is located on the World Heritage Coastline known as the Jurassic Coast. The property has gardens and grounds of about ¾ acre which surround the house and lie principally to the south. Worthy of special note is the delightful cobbled courtyard which is created by the house and barns which enclose it on three sides, ideal for al fresco dining. Within the grounds is the linhay barn, an attractive traditionally built building on two storeys which is built principally of stone under a re-thatched roof, making this a great games room. Also within the grounds is a detached cider barn complete with a very rare horse engine and original cider press. Colyford has a popular post office, general store and butcher which proves a great asset to the village. There are two public houses and a restaurant. The coastal resort of Seaton lies approximately 1 mile to the south and has a wide pebble beach, a small harbour at the mouth of the River Axe and direct access to the World Heritage Coast and South West Peninsular Coastal Path. The market town of Axminster lies about 5½ miles. To the east is the coastal resort of Lyme Regis and to the west are the fishing villages of Beer and Branscombe and the Regency Gothic town of Sidmouth. The county town of Exeter, 23 miles west, provides a comprehensive range of shopping facilities, theatres, and restaurants. Well worth a visit is Seaton Tramway; next to the tramway is the new Seaton Marshes Nature Reserve. The installation of a viewing hide and wheelchair-friendly paths means this beautiful area and its wildlife - wildfowl and wading birds in winter; dragonflies and butterflies in summer - are now easily accessible all year round. There is also a fantastic cycle way as well. There are many NT properties all close by. Golf, sailing, horse riding and many other activities are all available locally. Beach 2 miles. "A truly magical estate to escape to and unwind..."

Nestling peacefully high in the hills above the Taw/Torridge estuaries, the Webbery Manor Estate - a Saxon manor listed in the Domesday Book as being given by the conqueror to Nicholas the Crossbowman - is a haven of rural tranquillity, yet lies within convenient striking distance of the North Devon market towns of Bideford and Barnstaple. In the 30 acres of parkland and woods surrounding the Manor House (rebuilt during the Regency period), grazing sheep compete for space with deer, hare, owls, pheasant, birds of prey and other wildlife. Stunning views of Exmoor and Lundy Island (accessible by ferry from Bideford and Ilfracombe) may be enjoyed from the grounds on clear days. Gardeners will delight in the many specimen trees and rhododendrons, and in the stone and brick walled kitchen gardens from which complimentary seasonal produce is made available to guests. In addition, the gardens at RHS Rosemoor, Marwood and Tapley Park are all within easy driving distance.
Four of the properties (HDDN, HDDO, HDDP and HDDQ) were originally constructed using materials from the estate and all have been refurbished to an exceptionally high standard with careful attention being paid to comfort and detail. Beautifully decorated and furnished with antique and period pieces, they offer solid oak floors, hand-made curtains and wood-burning stoves with fuel available from the estate’s woodland. The owners’ tennis court may be used subject to availability (non-marking footwear must be worn). Dove Cote House is a substantial residence, truly unique with dove cotes set into the front gable of the house. The interior boasts vaulted ceilings, galleried landings and many other interesting features. The main bedroom has a roof terrace with breathtaking westerly views out to Lundy Island - just the place for breakfast or watching the setting sun with a glass of wine on a warm summer’s evening.
A link to the Groom’s Cottage can be opened up to create a six-bedroomed cottage accommodating twelve people. The Groom’s Cottage which adjoins the Dove Cote House has open-plan accommodation on the ground floor with French doors leading to a secluded walled garden. The Linhay, where carts were once kept and the hay stored for the horses which worked the estate in a bygone age, is a two-bedroomed detached cottage with a bright and airy interior which oozes charm. Both bedrooms enjoy westerly views over the Bristol Channel towards Lundy. The Appleloft, which once housed the estate’s cider press is a delightful spacious, two-bedroomed cottage with a gallery and vaulted ceiling, adjoining the Groom’s Cottage.
Chapel Cottage (H81), the fifth property, adjoins the Manor House (occupied by the owners) and is a conversion of what was once the family place of worship, whilst the sixth, The Coach House (HPPR and HPPS), has been reconstructed in the Regency style and has wonderful views towards Exmoor in the distance. It has been divided into two stunning wings, Cutcliffe Chambers and Luppincott Chambers. Each is sited either side of an internal light tower and can be booked separately or, for a larger party, taken together. The Garden Cottage is a spacious retreat for two, and as it adjoins The Coach House it can also be booked as an annexe to this property to create a five bedroom cottage accommodating ten.
Webbery is ideal for family gatherings, celebrating a birthday or anniversary or for those who just want to escape and unwind on holiday in a truly magical place. The locality offers a hugely varied range of walks in woodland, along coastal and esturine trails and for the more energetic, The Tarka Trail is located only a few minutes away and provides extensive (and largely level) cycling with wonderful estuary views. The sea is never far away from Webbery and the long sandy beaches of Instow...

Slowpool is a detached period property which has been extended to provide spacious accommodation for a large family or friends - who want to holiday together or have a special occasion to celebrate. It occupies a very rural setting at the end of a track in a 6-acre wood, 3 miles south of Honiton. The wood is a haven for wildlife with regular sighting of badgers, deer and an abundance of birds. There is a network of footpaths in the woods for guests to use at their leisure. The coast of Sidmouth is a mere 20-minute drive.
This is a superb house with total privacy; it has been decorated and furnished to a very high standard and boasts three wood-burning stoves, together with many original features. For walkers and bird-watchers, this really is the most suitable accommodation. There are so many walks to enjoy from the front door.
Many activities are available in the area including golf, fishing, horse riding and sailing. There are also numerous NT properties - all within a short drive. Exmouth is close by and has lovely 2-mile stretch of beach and was once home to the wives of Nelson and Byron respectively, whilst a bit further on lies the genteel town of Budleigh Salterton with its white-washed and thatched cottages which attracted such visitors as Noel Coward and PG Wodehouse. Lynmouth is delightful and again has a good range of shops and places to eat. At Croyde and Woolacombe some of the best and cleanest surf beaches in the country can be found, as well as many smaller coves and bays. Exmoor has lots to offer including Tarr Steps, the village of Withypool and a walk up Dunkery Beacon, the highest point on Exmoor.
