There is so much to see and do locally when visiting Wayside House. This peaceful group of hills which lies on the border of Devon and Somerset has survived almost unscathed by post-war development. To the north the land rises steeply in a dramatic wooded scarp, while to the south it forms a plateau, deeply dissected by valleys. On top of the plateau lie open windswept spaces, while in the valleys, picturesque chertstone, cob and thatched buildings cluster in villages and hamlets, surrounded by a patchwork of small enclosed fields, and accessed down narrow winding lanes with tall hedgerows. Local pubs serving superb food are nearby including a fantastic local shop and cafe in Culmstock village 1 mile away.

Slowpool is a detached period property which has been extended to provide spacious accommodation for a large family or friends - who want to holiday together or have a special occasion to celebrate. It occupies a very rural setting at the end of a track in a 6-acre wood, 3 miles south of Honiton. The wood is a haven for wildlife with regular sighting of badgers, deer and an abundance of birds. There is a network of footpaths in the woods for guests to use at their leisure. The coast of Sidmouth is a mere 20-minute drive.
This is a superb house with total privacy; it has been decorated and furnished to a very high standard and boasts three wood-burning stoves, together with many original features. For walkers and bird-watchers, this really is the most suitable accommodation. There are so many walks to enjoy from the front door.
Many activities are available in the area including golf, fishing, horse riding and sailing. There are also numerous NT properties - all within a short drive. Exmouth is close by and has lovely 2-mile stretch of beach and was once home to the wives of Nelson and Byron respectively, whilst a bit further on lies the genteel town of Budleigh Salterton with its white-washed and thatched cottages which attracted such visitors as Noel Coward and PG Wodehouse. At Exeter, the South West Coastal Path Park is an ideal family day out. Exmoor National Park is also worth a visit, with its rugged landscape and ponies. Shops and pubs 3 miles.

Woodmans Stoup is situated in the conservation village of Colyford located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This detached Grade II Listed period farmhouse dates from the 17th century, but has origins that possibly date back earlier than this. The property is a traditionally built thatched cottage and has a number of leaded light windows, some of which are shuttered. The property itself has an immense amount of period character with many original features still insitu such as inglenook fireplaces, flagstone floors, exposed beams, timbers and window seats, all of which combine to create a delightful period ambience and an impressive holiday cottage. Colyford sits on the A3052 midway between Lyme Regis and Sidmouth, and one mile from the beach which is located on the World Heritage Coastline known as the Jurassic Coast. Worthy of special note is the delightful cobbled courtyard which is created by the house and barns which enclose it on three sides, ideal for al fresco dining. Within the grounds is the linhay barn, an attractive traditionally built building on two storeys which is built principally of stone under a re-thatched roof, making this a great games room. Also within the grounds is a detached cider barn complete with a very rare horse engine and original cider press. Colyford has a popular post office, general store and butcher which proves a great asset to the village. There are two public houses and a restaurant. The coastal resort of Seaton lies approximately 1 mile to the south and has a wide pebble beach, a small harbour at the mouth of the River Axe and direct access to the World Heritage Coast and South West Peninsular Coastal Path. The market town of Axminster lies about 5½ miles. To the east is the coastal resort of Lyme Regis and to the west are the fishing villages of Beer and Branscombe and the Regency Gothic town of Sidmouth. The county town of Exeter, 23 miles west, provides a comprehensive range of shopping facilities, theatres, and restaurants. Well worth a visit is Seaton Tramway; next to the tramway is the new Seaton Marshes Nature Reserve. The installation of a viewing hide and wheelchair-friendly paths means this beautiful area and its wildlife - wildfowl and wading birds in winter; dragonflies and butterflies in summer - are now easily accessible all year round. There is also a fantastic cycle way as well. There are many NT properties all close by. Golf, sailing, horse riding and many other activities are all available locally. Beach 2 miles. Set in the heart of village life, Court Prior Farm is a lively working farm where lambs are in the pastures, cattle graze in the fields and the smell of the hay fills the air. In season guests may be able to bottle feed the lambs or feed the bullocks. Elderflower Barn (HDDI) and Cowslip Barn (HDDJ) have been converted from the old milking parlour and retain lovely original features, such as stone arch windows, and both have heavy beams and wooden floors. These three holiday properties would make a super location for a winter break, as well as a summer holiday enjoying the many glorious beaches of the South Devon coastline all within easy driving distance. Blackpool Sands is a fantastic family beach just 4 miles away, has a small shop and facilities as well as ample parking, and makes a lovely day out by the seaside. Slapton Sands is a lovely drive, with the sea on one side and the freshwater lagoon on the other. This area is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the birds and wildlife on the lagoon are amazing, so remember to bring a pair of binoculars. A little further along, the relic of the World War One tank can be recovered from the beach. Driving along inland a little way leads to the town of Kingsbridge.
Alternatively guests may enjoy visiting Dartmouth or Totnes, both just 4 miles away and both quite different. Totnes is a lively colourful town, full of different types of ethnic shops, and hosts a busy market day on Fridays and Saturdays. Dartmouth, nestling on the edge of the river Dart, has a strong maritime history and many designer shops and local artists. For great food the famous New Angel is located in Dartmouth, and is the ideal place for a special meal out. More local to the property is the village of Cornworthy - a quiet hamlet tucked away in the rolling Devon landscape - where there is a nice pub within walking distance which serves good food and real ales. There are many village pubs dotted all around this area including places to eat on the river at Tuckenhay, Ashprington and Dittisham. Shop (in pub) 2 miles, pub 1 mile.

Wadadli Lodge is something quite unusual. A contemporary, detached, Swedish-style house built of local stone and oak, offering beautiful interior design. The property stands in its own garden, with its own outdoor heated swimming pool and large play field with lake beyond. From the living room, balcony and decked garden, the pool can be viewed so it is easy to keep an eye on the youngsters enjoying themselves splashing around and having fun. In the other direction heading towards the coast there are many beaches, all approximately half an hour’s drive away, including Mothecombe, Bantham, Bigbury and Wembury. Plymouth city centre is 7 miles away with its historical Barbican and Hoe, as well as theatres, cinemas, bowling, pubs, restaurants, concert hall, ice skating, aquarium, ski slope and night clubs.
