The town has strong connections with the Royal Navy and is famous as the location of Dartmouth Naval College. It's also been the place where in times past plundering pirates would set out to plunder and the Pilgrim Fathers set out for America.

This characterful town has winding narrow streets, quirky shops, art galleries and delicatessens. By the quayside you'll be able to watch the brightly coloured boats come and go. Visitors are able to board the ferries that ply the River Dart or climb aboard the Dartmouth Steam Railway.
