The old market town of Bakewell is a must, as well as a day visit to Chatsworth House and its 1,000-acre estate, made famous by ‘Pride and Prejudice,’ or Haddon Hall. The famous of village of Eyam is steeped in history and this cosy property was once the home of the village baker during the plague of 1665. There are many references to this era in the village; plaques, gravestones, relics and also a museum. Also visit the Jacobean mansion, which is now a craft centre.
