This is an ideal setting for a Peak District holiday. Knockerdown Farm is conveniently situated on the road between Ashbourne and Matlock, within walking distance of beautiful Carsington Water, a superb windsurfing and sailing centre, which has an area devoted to wildlife and nature conservancy. Throughout the year they have special fun days for children of all ages. At the water sports centre guests can hire (with tuition) kayaks, windsurfers, Canadian canoes and bicycles. Professional fly fishing is available to enable guests to try their hand at fishing this popular, well-stocked reservoir. Fine walking country is virtually on the doorstep, and the renowned Tissington and Middleton cycle trails are both close by (with bikes available to hire). Cottages at Wolfscote Grange are situated on the edge of the Dove Valley in a beautiful landscape of hills and dales they stretch down the valley. These attractive stone holiday cottages enjoy their own driveways and pretty, lawned gardens. Green Farm Cottage, (ref RPP6), adjoins the owners’ 17th-century farmhouse, and Green Farm Stables (ref RFFQ), stands detached. Tucked away down a little lane, they lie 500 yards from the heart of the attractive old village of Hognaston, which stands on a hillside overlooked by Hognaston Wynn. Many houses in the village date back to the 17th and 18th century, as does the pub. Within walking distance is beautiful Carsington Water, offering superb water sports, sailing and bike hire facilities with an area devoted to wildlife along with cycle and walking trails. Located on the edge of the Peak District, the cottages are just 4 miles from the picturesque market town of Ashbourne known as the ‘Gateway to Dovedale’. Other places to visit nearby include Bakewell, Matlock Bath, Haddon Hall, Chatsworth House and Keddleston Hall, as well as other National Trust and English Heritage properties. It is only a short drive to Dovedale and the other lovely dales of the limestone White Peak District, which offers great walking. A little further afield, visit Alton Towers theme park for a great day out for both adults and children alike, who will also enjoy Go Ape at Buxton.
