These cottages, one a Victorian double fronted detached house and the other the converted stables sit in the very heart of Windermere are tucked away behind the main thoroughfare and accessed by a narrow lane opening out into a small courtyard. Nowadays, the horse and carriages have been exchanged for holidaymakers and the ancient buildings have been successfully converted to provide two most interesting cottages with all the desired 21st century facilities that we are so used to but wonderfully married with an Arts and Crafts style theme throughout, perfectly in keeping with the buildings’ historic past.
Each cottage has been carefully restored, retaining characterful, exposed beams, panelling, flooring and fireplaces whilst handpicked pieces of furniture from the turn of the 20th Century onwards have been sourced to complete the look and transport you back to a bygone era. Newly fitted shower rooms, kitchens and good beds, essential for a good nights rest are provided for your self catering stay and even at first glance, Yew Tree and Stable Cottage present as two good quality holiday cottages of a certain style. One can’t help but feel immediately at ease as you enter these unique properties, almost as one felt as a child when visiting Grandma’s house – charmed, cosy and comfortable.

Brantside Ref: CC123204
Brantside is positioned just off the main thoroughfare of the village behind Barclays Bank and is a beautiful example of an end of Victorian terrace. Despite sitting so very close to the village centre. Brantside is surprisingly quiet and bring slightly elevated offers lovely views from most windows down onto the village and across to Loughrigg, Wansfell and the Fairfield Horseshoe - the property has several comfy window seats which are sure to be well utilised for this very reason!
Brantside has been thoughtfully prepared and beautifully ’dressed’ for holiday letting and shows great attention to detail in both the standard of workmanship and the exquisitely chosen fixtures and fittings; the exquisite original period light fittings being just one example. The exposed stone wall in the lounge dining room should dominate the room being such a lovely feature but ones eyes are instantly drawn to the dual aspects windows for more of that spectacular view.

Langdale, a luxurious holiday apartment is on the first floor of a rather grand Lakeland residence, which has been divided into several properties, the majority of which are offered for holiday let. Waitby School Ref: CC131123
Waitby School was built on Waitby Fell in 1680 by James Highmore, a local to the area, for the children of Waitby and Smardale. About a mile and a half west of Kirkby Stephen, Waitby is said to have been an ancient market town, with a castle, chapel and cemetery, but no trace of either is now to be seen. However, the school remains, standing proud on the fellside and, having been purchased recently by another local family, has been lovingly restored, in conjunction with English Heritage, to offer luxurious holiday accommodation.  The property stands alone and enjoys uninterrupted views over the surrounding countryside, dotted with livestock and the occasional farmer and tractor at "doin up time".
Many original features have been retained in the restoration of the School, including wood panelling, wooden double doors, the outside boys lavatory, complete with seat, and, of course, the school bell. After much careful planning, these characterful features have been successfully combined with state of the art fixtures and fittings to create and individual holiday home of great distinction, and a most unique holiday experience.
