Lindale is a delightful village in the south Lakes, only two miles from Grange Over Sands which can be reached in five minutes by car or 40 minutes walk for those more energetic of you. Grange was a popular resort of the Victorians and still today retains an historic feel with the lovely promenade fringed by delightful tea rooms and craft shops. Lindale is well placed for exploring all of the Lakes and Furness Peninsula, Windermere Lake being only only 15 minutes drive. The village itself has a local store, well supported village hall and two pubs offering real ale and excellent food.
This pretty, white washed cottage fronted by a traditional lawned garden fringed by colourful borders, sheltering the house from the roadside. Less than 10 minutes level walk from the centre of Keswick. It is situated on a quiet lane, at the end of a small row of former farm cottages, only a stone’s throw from the banks of the River Greta and the old railway line footpath/cycle path which runs between Keswick and Threlkeld.
 
The cottage has very comfortable, spacious accommodation. It has the benefit of a garden, parking for 2/3 cars, a shed for bikes, views from the bedrooms and a cosy living room with a wood burning stove. There is a selection of books, maps and games provided, and it has Wi-Fi access for those who need to keep in touch while away!
 
Two Chimneys is an ideal base for a holiday in The Lake District. For those who like The Great Outdoors there are many walks you can start from the doorstep. There is a handy mini-market at the filling station 100 metres away, the ‘Twa Dogs Inn’ is only 200 metres away, and Keswick, with its twice-weekly market and unrivalled selection of shops and places to eat, is just down the road.

Its superb Lakeland location, in the village of Patterdale, lies at the southern end of Ullswater. Architect designed, it incorporates fascinating features such as oriel windows, all set in dressed stone. Internally the accommodation has a unique character, with oak panelling and a 17th-century court cupboard. The house manages to incorporate cottage charm, with the majority of rooms taking advantage of the exquisite outlooks. The grounds are delightful; they are all south facing and include extensive terracing, with water features, fish pond and broad areas of lawn with rhododendron bushes. There are magnificent fell views in all directions. Kirkstone Pass rises up to the south of the village dropping down into Ambleside and Windermere, so the location is central to both the North and South Lakes, and therefore excellent for touring the National Park. Above the valley behind Patterdale is the famous Striding Edge, a knife edge ridge, leading onto Helvellyn and is popular among more serious walkers. For a less strenuous walk you will find Aira Force, a short drive south, which is the Lake District’s most famous waterfall. There are watersports available on the lake and the steamer is a beautiful way to enjoy the scenery.
