Nestled close to the banks of Derwentwater and overlooked by Skiddaw, Keswick is a picturesque Lakeland town with plenty of outdoor and speciality shops, friendly cafés, pubs and restaurants. It's the ideal location for family holidays, being close to lots of amenities, and for great outdoor activity holidays.

There are a host of activities available from walking the magnificent fells to archery, abseiling, scrambling, climbing and canyoning. With several adventure centres in the vicinity you can try all these activities along with cycling, sailing and white water tubing.

For a more relaxing time you could choose a leisurely cruise across Derwentwater, or hire a rowing boat, explore the town's two parks or simply enjoy Keswick's lovely town centre.

Close by are the ancient Castlerigg Stone Circles and Keswick golf club. Trotters World of Animals is a great place to visit with the youngsters, there are more than 100 species to discover from anaconda to zebra and with keeper demonstrations throughout the day, there are plenty of opportunities to get up close to the animals and learn more about them.

If the weather takes a turn for the worst, there are plenty of indoor activities to keep you busy like the famous and intriguing Derwent Pencil Museum.

In the centre of Keswick

Situated in the centre of Keswick, one of the Lake Districts most popular towns, but with views from the back towards Skiddaw, this cosy semi-detached holiday cottage provides a wonderful base from which to explore the surrounding area. For the more active there are numerous walking and cycling opportunities. The lakes of Ullswater, Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite are nearby and only a short drive will take you to Windermere, the heart of the Lake District National Park. Keswick is a bustling market town renowned for its craft shops, an excellent choice of restaurants and lively pubs. In addition to the fantastic walks available, there is golf, riding and a variety of watersports available locally. Other attractions include the theatre by the lake, Mire House Historic Home and Gardens, Cars of the Stars motor museum and Keswick Museum and Art Gallery, not to mention the range of festivals held in the area throughout the year. The Hollies is situated in what is believed to be the oldest part of Keswick and probably the quietest, yet is only a minutes walk from the town centre and its many amenities.
