If you want to be near Hadrian’s Wall then you cannot get closer than this, Bleatarn Park is situated literally on the wall with exclusive access to it, in a lovely rural setting 7 miles east of Carlisle. There are walks in either direction, west towards Carlisle or east to the Roman Fort at Birdoswald and other places of interest along the way. There are currently 3 properties available at Bleatarn Park, 2 on the ground floor which accept pets and 1 on the first floor which is ‘pet free’, with a choice of 1 or 2 bedrooms. All 3 offer very good stylish accommodation, but at a very affordable price. Cyclists can enjoy the quiet country lanes which extend for many miles in all directions and the central location means the Lake District, Scottish Borders and Eden valley are all within a half hour drive. Children will love a day at ‘Walby Farm Park’, which is within walking distance. The nearest pub is 2 miles, or the historic city of Carlisle is 7 miles, which has great shopping and night life and places of interest. The market town of Brampton is 4 miles, with a choice of restaurants, pubs and shops and there are several golf courses close by.

Hayton Castle is the main property on Edmond Castle Estate and is a family home as it was for most of its history, with occasional changes of use during the 20th century. Whatever your party size there is a cottage to suit, with properties sleeping anything from 4 – 10 guests. The Peele Tower is the oldest building on the estate, dating to around 1603, when in the hands of the Howard family, the castle was designed by the renowned architect Sir Robert Smirke and built between 1824 and 1829. Each ‘cottage’ is superbly equipped and luxuriously furnished to ensure a relaxing stay. There is a small lake in the grounds with an abundance of birdlife and footpaths to the surrounding countryside. Edmond Castle is situated 7 miles east of the Historic city of Carlisle, outside the village of Hayton and is ideally situated to visit the Scottish Borders, the Eden Valley, the Lake District and Hadrian’s Wall. There is a golf course nearby, fishing on the River Eden, good restaurants locally and a great shopping centre in Carlisle.
The Peele Tower is the oldest building on the estate, built at the time of the Anglo Scottish feuds. It is laid out over 4 floors with a steep narrow staircase befitting of the period and a fantastic turreted roof terrace with fabulous panoramic views of the estate.

The Byre at Cleugh Head Farm was converted into a self catering cottage suitable for guests with mobility problems, though of course it is equally suitable for the able bodied. The accommodation is wheelchair accessible and on the ground floor, there is a wet room with disabled adaptations and the beds can be electronically adjusted (one bed only is accessible by wheelchair). The cottage is full of character, with feature stone walls and oak beams and furnishings and equipment are very good quality. The open plan living area has stone flagged floors and a modern well equipped kitchen. It is situated in a beautiful rural location, on a small farm and race horse establishment, east of Brampton and very close to Hadrian’s Wall.
