Find cottages in Port IsaacVisit Port Isaac

The small and picturesque fishing village of Port Issac has a population of just around 700, but is hugely popular with holidaymakers who come to stay in this beautiful coastal region.

Port Isaac can be found on the Atlantic coast of north Cornwall near the town of Wadebridge. The original breakwater and Tudor pier of Port Isaac were built during the reign of Henry VIII, but these have now been replaced by a more modern sea wall, allowing local fishermen to sleep soundly at night.

The village's prosperity was linked to fishing and coastal freight and the central part of the village was built during the 18th and 19th centuries, when it was at its most prosperous. The core of the village has been protected as a conservation area since 1971.

Port Isaac has been used as a popular film location by television companies over the past 40 years. It is currently home to the ITV series, Doc Martin, starring Martin Clunes. The BBC's Poldark was filmed at Port Isaac between 1975 and 1977. The DIY SOS team have decorated the village hall, with the programme being televised afterwards.

The lifeboat station in Port Isaac was established in 1869, and in 2012 the whole lifeboat crew were awarded gallantry medals for a particularly dangerous rescue. In the history of the RNLI it is only the second time a whole crew has been awarded gallantry medals for a rescue on a D-class inflatable lifeboat.

Apart from our lovely selection of holiday cottages in Port Isaac, there are also good local places to eat and drink and outdoor activities such as fishing and walking to enjoy.
