Mevagissey is a picturesque, Cornish fishing village where you can explore the narrow streets and discover quirky shops and art galleries.

Mevagissey is situated on the south Cornish coast a short distance from St Austell, and the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan is nearby. This unspoilt fishing village has a colourful history of smuggling and boat building and is set amongst the steep hill sides that surround the twin harbours where fishing boats come and go with their catch; the town has many good restaurants, pubs and cafes where you can try the local produce.

Of particular note is the converted lifeboat house on the harbour which has had many uses since the 1930s, including a cafe, shop and gun emplacement manned by the Home Guard during WWII. In the mid-1950s it was turned into an aquarium which provided 50 years of enjoyment before being refurbished and reopened in 2006. To learn more of the town's history, visit the local museum; the exhibits are housed in a building that was constructed in 1745.

There are many beautiful beaches and attractions nearby, including the Mevagissey Model railway museum where more than 30 trains travel through detailed, but imaginary scenes. Spot the harbour with a film set, wedding, maze and snow covered Alpine landscape!

Harbourside Apartment is so close to the beautiful harbour that you feel part of the village the moment you arrive in Mevagissey. Perched above the harbour, the sights and sounds of gently bobbing boats, the cry of the gulls and the waves lapping the edge of the harbour can be heard from the balcony that overlooks the open sea beyond. The narrow, tiny lanes are lined with pretty cafes, gift and craft shops and local pubs that serve award winning ales and local food. A little further afield leads to many beautiful beaches on the Roseland Peninsula, all of them providing the quintessential ingredients for that traditional family holiday. The world renowned Eden Project, with its wonderful tropical biomes and unusual plants and flowers is a must for every visitor in Cornwall. The Eden Project also has many events throughout the summer all worth seeing. The hamlet of Pentewan, just minutes from Mevagissey, has a large sandy beach and off-road cycle trail, bike hire, kayak hire and dive centre. Many walks can be taken around this part of the county; from coastal rambles and disused heritage trails that cross the county, to inland wooded walks or something a little more strenuous for the more active.
