The busy fishing port of Looe has family-friendly beaches and lovely coastal and country walks.

Looe has one of the largest fishing fleets in Cornwall so you won't find fresher seafood anywhere else, but despite its bustling nature Looe is also a place where you can slow down and relax. Here there is a fine sandy beach at East Looe, and a rocky coastline at West Looe; perfect for both lazing on the beach or doing a bit of rock pooling with the kids.

You'll find lots of reminders of Looe's long maritime history as you wind your way through the quaint narrow streets, with traditional fishermen's cottages complete with the slate ground floors that were used for storing fishing equipment. Head towards the harbour, where fishermen offer trips around the bay, and younger children will love the glass bottom boat trips, or take the boat over to Looe Island just off shore where there's a nature reserve managed by the Cornwall Wildlife Trust.

The South West Coast Path extends over 600 miles and passes through Looe, where you can enjoy wonderful coastal walks and fine sea views; a particularly popular route is west to Polperro and is not too hilly. Inland there are plenty of moorland and woodland walks.

In town there is Looe Museum which offers an insight to the maritime history of Looe and lots of good restaurants, cafes and pubs.
