Find cottages in LauncestonVisit Launceston

Launceston was once the ancient capital of Cornwall and today is still a bustling traditional market town with lots of daily activity focusing on the handsome town square. There are plenty of food, craft and gift shops selling locally made goods as well as an array of cafes, restaurants and pubs.

Launceston is dominated by its dramatically-positioned castle which sits high above the town and dates back to around 1070. Explore the display to learn more about the castle's history, climb the battlements or just enjoy relaxing in the extensive grounds.

The town's Lawrence Town Museum is located in a Georgian house and focuses on the town's history and notable inhabitants as well as its links with Australia. Children and adults alike will enjoy a trip on the narrow gauge Launceston Steam Railway. It runs two and a half miles to Newmills where a farm park provides further entertainment.

The Hidden Valley Discovery Park provides fantastic fun for all the family with a variety of attractions including the forbidden mansion, maze and hobbit hole. Launceston is less than an hour's drive to the fabulous Eden Project and also within reach of beaches on both the north and south coasts of Cornwall.

If all that and more is enough to tempt you search for Launceston holiday cottages to find your perfect holiday accommodation.
