All have a small patio area. There is wonderful scenic walking from the doorstep into the Marshwood Vale and on the coast some stunning scenery overlooking the whole of Lyme Bay from Portland down to Torquay and, not for the faint hearted, walking up to the top of Golden Cap - the highest point on England’s South coast with breath taking views. Guests can enjoy this beautiful stretch of coast, taking in some fossil hunting, boating, swimming, and golf nearby. Explore the many little seaside resorts such as West Bay, Eype, Sidmouth, Beer and Seaton and in particular Lyme Regis with its traditional harbour, famous Cob and variety of little shops. Further afield within easy driving is Weymouth with its Blue Flag sandy beach, Sealife centre, Time Walk and many other family attractions or going west, days out at Exeter with its cathedral, catacombs, shops and restaurants. Going inland explore this pleasant part of Dorset, taking in Beaminster, Broadwindsor, and Forde Abbey and Gardens. Shop, pub and restaurant 1½ miles.

The Clocktower Ref: W41048

Most unusual building

The Clock Tower was built around 1740, and is part of a Grade ll listed building. Whilst small, it is full of character - with old beams, sloping ceilings and an exposed void leading up to where the bell once hung. At the end of a private drive in the grounds of Snettisham House, there are open views to the rear and over the gardens to the front. Snettisham House is above the village about 3 miles from the sea. There are walks from the holiday cottage, and the nearby RSPB reserve is famous for its wading birds. The nearby Snettisham Park (open to visitors) has rare breeds and farms red deer. Snettisham has good pubs/hotels and a good bistro, store, post office, butchers and greengrocers. Shop, pub and restaurant 1.5 miles.

There is superb scenic coastal walking all along the Lyme Bay Coast, with views stretching to Portland Bill and far into Devon, and for those without a faint heart, the National Trust’s Golden Cap, southern England’s highest cliff is an exhilarating walk with spectacular scenery. One can visit the many popular seaside resorts from Weymouth in the east to Abbotsbury, West Bay, Charmouth, Seaton, Sidmouth and onto Exmouth in the west, or enjoy the beautiful Dorset countryside with its quaint villages, pubs and cream tea cafes. There are many historic houses to visit, including Forde Abbey and Gardens and Montacute House and Gardens, and family entertainment such as The Donkey Sanctuary, Crealy Adventure Park and inland Yeovilton Fleet Air Arm Museum.
