Just 2 miles away is the historic port of Bideford, with its variety of shops, pubs and restaurants, and from where regular sailing trips to Lundy Island can be taken. The fishing villages of Instow, Appledore and Clovelly are close by, as are a host of other quaint villages, each with its own unique character, charm and welcoming inn. The Tarka Trail passes close by and offers walking and cycling along the estuary with cycle hire available. Within easy driving distance is Hartland, where the English Heritage coastline has been designated an AONB. RHS Rosemoor Gardens, Tapley Park, Dartington Crystal, The Big Sheep and The Milky Way are all popular family attractions. The area is a must for surfers and beach lovers. Westward Ho! (Blue Flag) can be reached in 15 minutes. Fishing, sailing, horse riding and golf are available locally, and Exmoor National Park is within easy reach.
