Property Description

Yeo Farm is a small country estate nestling in the picturesque hamlet of Waterrow on the Somerset/ Devon border at the foot of the Brendon Hills. Walkers and dog owners are welcome at these adult only farm cottages and a dog welcome pack is provided! Comprising some 40 acres of woodland, pasture, ponds and the River Tone, the farm also has fishing rights for over half a mile, and a riverside walk has been made to enjoy the natural flora and fauna present in this area. The 16th-century farmhouse has been restored and is the home of the resident owners, whilst the cottages (Refs ERE, ERF, and ERG) have been sympathetically converted from former farm buildings and comprise three adjoining character cottages which enjoy wonderful views over the estate. The cottages have been renovated and refurbished to a high standard, and offer all modern conveniences and comfort in this stunning setting.
Yeo Farm provides an excellent base for countryside pursuits and walking, with the Brendons, Quantocks and Blackdown Hills nearby. On the doorstep is the Exmoor National Park which has been designated the first International Dark Sky Reserve in Europe (telescope on request). Horses are welcome. Many historic houses and gardens in the vicinity. Coast 13 miles. There is coarse, fly and sea fishing available; golf 4 miles; hard tennis courts and outdoor swimming pool 1½ miles; clay and game shooting by arrangement. Shops 1½ miles, local gastro pub 1 mile.

First floor: Large living/dining room/kitchen with vaulted ceiling, large gable window and oriental rugs. Double bedroom with en-suite shower room and toilet. Twin bedroom. Shower room and toilet.

Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. Delightful reverse floored cottage with the sitting room / kitchen being on the first floor, of this barn conversion. Lots of light with comfortable furnishings and well equipped kitchen. A very nice walk through the farmland and by the river takes you to an excellent gastro-pub with a fine a la carte menu. (Sunday lunch deserves the return walk back to the cottage and then a relaxing afternoon!) Your hosts are extremely helpful but do not intrude. March 2012.
  2. This is one of the best-equipped holiday houses we have ever stayed in (and we have visited many). The owners were extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. The 5-star dog welcome will never be forgotten by our dog (blanket, mat, bowl, dog towel, welcome treat), and the cream tea and bottle of wine awaiting our arrival were equally well-received by the human visitors! A marvellous holiday house in a beautiful area. Oct 2011.
  3. This cottage was the perfect escape! A friendly welcome for us and our dog from the wonderful owners. The cottage itself was spotlessly clean, light, airy and modern. We didn’t eat out much and so I was thrilled to find the kitchen so well equipped with everything that I could have possibly needed. The cream tea was a very welcome start to our week! We can’t wait to go back. Oct 2011.
  4. Very well-appointed accommodation and good attention to detail, especially for four-legged guests. We were made very welcome and really appreciated use of fields for dog-walking. Cream tea on arrival went down a treat, too. Sept 2011.
  5. Best cottage we have been to. Everything there for us and our dog was well catered for too. Lovely scones when we arrived. Would definitely visit again. Sept 2011.
  6. Wonderful to be greeted by warm scones, strawberry jam and clotted cream n tea!! After a long journey from Lincoln what more can one ask for??? What a great host to have thought of this!! Very well equipped kitchen, tastefully furnished property and kept very clean. Ideally sited and within driving distance to unspoilt areas of Somerset and Devonshire. Of course close enough to Cornwall for a day out!!! Extensive grounds to walkabout without getting into the car. The Rock Inn is certainly recommended and is within walking distance. You need to be in Yeo Farm to appreciate it. We certainly were very impressed with the hospitality accorded and high standard of the property we stayed in. Certainly will be back. Many thanks to Pam and Ronald(apologies if I got the name incorrect......blame it on my age!!) for the warm welcome and making our stay so enjoyable and trouble free. Aug 2011.
  7. The only downside of the property and location is that none of the mobile networks operate in that area. Perfect if you don’t want to be contacted! May 2011.
  8. The property was beautifully clean and well furnished. Everything was of a high standard and very well organised, a credit to the owners who extended a very warm welcome and were extremely helpful. We would certainly like to stay again if holidaying in that area, which we found to be lovely. All information in the cottage was presented immaculately, had been carefully considered, and could not be faulted. Oct 2010.
  9. Magical location with superb, comfortable, spotlessly clean accommodation. Ownners were very welcoming, helpful and friendly with a delicious cream tea waiting for us on arrival. We look forward to visiting honey cottage again and exploring more of this lovely part of the country. Sept 2010.
  10. Beautifully decorated and maintained, high degree of comfort, and lovely touch of cream tea provided on arrival day, along with bottle of wine. Sept 2010.
  11. Very clean and homely. Aug 2010.
  12. Comfortable, clean, bright, superb facilities e.g. kitchen. July 2010.
  13. Very well equipped cottage and highly maintained, very clean, excellent hosts - very welcoming helpful and even made scones on arrival for us! Perfect!! Dec 2009.
  14. It was very private, no-one overlooking us and had lovely views. Also spotlessly clean with good quality furniture and equipment. Sept 2009.
  15. Lovely welcome by friendly & helpful owners, and the property and situation was everything you could wish for... ten out of ten! Sept 2009.
  16. A beautiful location with very welcoming and helpfull hosts. Oct 2008.
  17. The week we spent at Honey Cottage was blissful. The opportunity to share in the atmosphere of what we all imagine as the epitomy of the English countryside will be a lasting memory. June 2008.
  18. Superb location, accommodation excellent. Lovely woodland walk on property by the river. Sept 2007.
