This charming Grade II listed house is situated in the peaceful village of Sockbridge, ideally situated for exploring the northern lakes and fells, just 2½ miles from Ullswater and 15 miles from Keswick. Formerly part of the small estate once owned by Wordsworth’s grandfather, this holiday property is light, warm and spacious, and retains many original features. There are several pleasant walks to be enjoyed across the fields and along the river directly from the house. Nearby, across a quiet no-through-road, is a completed children’s play area. The market town of Penrith, with its variety of shopping facilities, is only 3 miles away at Junction 40 of the M6. Shops 2 miles.

  2. If you said that this cottage is fully equipped that would be an understatement! It has everything you could think of. On a sunny day there is nothing more beautiful than cruising Ullswater on the steamer. Local pub provides tasty and good value meals. June 2012.

This property is an excellent base for exploring the Lakes and the Eden Valley and is equally suited to people who wish to stay put and enjoy peace and quiet without the need for a car.With an excellent pub serving good quality food just 5 minutes walk and Penrith only a short distance away you have evertything you need on your doorstep without having to drive miles.It’s also only a stones throw from the motorway yet feels as though you are ion the, middle of no-where. It really is a place to chill out in! We loved it and hope to be back soon. May 2012.
  5. A charming cottage, with all the mod cons but wothout losing the feel of a 200 year old barn conversion. Great location, only 5 minute drive from Penrith but you feel as though you are in the middle of nowhere. Great for families. Lovely log burning stove for the cold days and nights, and underfloor heating is great when i you get back from walking. Dec 2011.
