Property Description

White Lea Farm is located in the Staffordshire Moorlands within the Peak District National Park. The dramatic and beautiful scenery make White Lea Cottage the ideal holiday destination. This cosy yet spacious cottage is delightful and well appointed. The beams, exposed stone walls and wood floors coupled with the log fire and sympathetic decor make for a welcoming atmosphere. Outside there are gardens featuring a raised decked area adjacent to the house from where you can enjoy panoramic views of the countryside. Stabling and grazing are also available. Nearby in Back Forest is Ludd’s Church, steeped in folklore and set in a geological chasm. A little further afield is the beautiful Manifold Valley, Dovedale within the NT Llam Estate and the spectacular Thors Cave. Within 4 miles is the market town of Leek, known as the ’Queen of the Moorlands’ and a well known centre for the antiques trade. Enjoy the many dining and shopping experiences in the town and visit Brindley Mill, next to the River Churnet, where you can still see corn being ground. For walking and climbing, don’t miss ’The Roaches Rocks’ on the southern uplands of the Pennines. A little further afield are Biddulph Grange Gardens, Whiston Hall Golf Club and the famous Alton Towers theme park. At Froghall Wharf in Stoke-on-Trent you can take a canal boat trip on the Cauldon Canal or visit the famous Wedgewood Potteries visitor’s centre. The stately home of Chatsworth House and many other NT properties are also within easy reach. Shops 3 miles, pub and restaurant 11/2 miles.

Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. Lovely property, clean and very comfortable. An away from it all retreat. May 2012.
  2. An excellent property on a working farm. Well located and a good base for the Peak District, Staffordshire and Alton Towers! Owner made us very welcome with recommendations, the cottage was extremely well equipped and the layout worked well for us all including our dog. Safe secure garden and walking was good from the door! April 2012.
  3. Cottage was excellent, we went with friends and had our twin grandchildren (14months) with us. Facilities were excellent, only little things missing like dishwasher tablets, fairy liquid but the supermarket was only 10mins down the road. Local pub did good food, we cooked and ate in also got a takeaway which again was good. We are intending to go back, near to Alton Towers if you have a good stay and want to combine the theme park as well, lots of local attractions. Oct 2011.
  4. Excellent log burner!! Very Quiet. Sept 2011.
  5. A little difficult to find - otherwise a very nice cottage. Everyone enjoyed their stay, and the weather was kind for March! March 2011.
  6. THIS WAS A STAFF VISIT: Property was very well presented, the quality of fixtures and furnishings was good and it is clearly a quality property which was clean and well equipped on arrival. Dec 2010.
  7. Superb location and fantastic accommodation. Really friendly owner. Sept 2010.
  8. The property was warm and cosy yet very spacious, and a delight to return to at the end of each day. It was quiet and restful with great views. Oct 2010.
  9. Peaceful and comfortable. Sept 2010.
  10. Very tastefully furnished with a good level of equipment. July 2010.
  11. All room sizes in White Lea Cottage were of excellent size. The quality of the bed linen was excellent and the beds were the most comfortable that we have ever slept on. The location of this particular cottage was nothing short of idyllic. To be able to watch the lambs whilst eating breakfast on the patio was most enjoyable. The owners were particularly helpful - particularly when my youngest son who has learning difficulties pulled a radiator off the wall whilst trying to close a window! This cottage is truly delightful. May 2010.
  12. The accommodation is wonderful and presented extremely well. The owners were friendly and couldn’t do enough to help us feel welcome. The 3 bedrooms all offer a homliness feel with a sense of luxury, and the wood burner in the lounge sets the scene for coy nights in. The cottage itself is well equipped, everything you need. The owners were great and made a special weekend (parents 40th wedding anniversary) even more memorable. Will definitely book again soon. Thanks. Nov 2009.
