This beautiful single-storey detached barn is surrounded by excellent countryside walks along the rolling South Downs, a designated a National Park, and access to the South Downs Way is just 500 yards away. Set on a working arable farm, it boasts beamed vaulted ceilings, exposed stone walls and a wood-burning stove. An ideal holiday retreat, it is tastefully furnished to a very high standard. Amberley village, with museum, pub and shop with local produce is 5 minutes’ drive; Storrington is 2 miles. Arundel Castle and the seaside resorts of Worthing and Brighton are a 20-minute drive; places to visit include Parham House, Petworth House and Pulborough Brooks. Shops and pubs 1 mile.

  1. Excellent pub - food & drink - George & Dragon at Houghton 3 miles from cottage. Must book. Sportsman also good all-round pub at Amberley 1.5 miles. June 2012.

  4. Perfectly located for all that the south western area of the South Downs has to offer being central for trips to National Trust properties including Petworth House. Brighton, Amberley, Arundel, Goodwood and Chichester are short drives away and there are wonderful walks straight out of the front door. The South Downs Way lies just (a steepish)5 minutes climb away. The property is fully equiped for 4 with 2 bathrooms, stylish modern furniture and fittings and has small outside patio areas at the front and back. The owners who live in the adjacent farmhouse are charming, welcoming and well informed, giving advice on good local eating and shopping. April 2011.
  5. Good access to many interesting places to visit. Arundel is very good, with excellent shops ( cheese and wines) and cafes. Several excellent pub/restaurants in the local area with friendly staff. Some "farmyard smells", as cows adjacent, but this is lovely countryside with easy access to the South Downs Way. Owners most friendly and helpful. March 2011.
  6. The property was spacious yet cosy and had everything you could wish for. The owners lived nearby and were very welcoming and accommodating. It was situated in a beautifuly location. Sept 2010.

  9. Very clean. Excellent facilities e.g.large, flat screen tv, plenty of kitchen utensils, very comfy bed (5 foot which is what we needed), small "touches" such as tooth paste and tissues which made us feel at home. Oct 2009.
