Property Description

Overlooking a secluded valley, just 8 miles from Woolacombe’s long sandy beach, these three superb holiday properties each enjoy their own enclosed garden area, and are peacefully set down a mile long made-up private road. Close to the owner’s home, they have been imaginatively and beautifully converted from former farm buildings, incorporating glass frontages to take advantage of the lovely views over the stream-bordered paddocks which lead to beautiful woodland walks. Children love getting to know the bunch of friendly animals, which include miniature ponies and donkeys, llamas, pet sheep and small flock of traditional breed hens.
Perfect for a relaxing holiday, the area holds a wealth of attractions. The ancient town of Barnstaple, with its Domesday associations, lies just 5 miles distant. Here the visitor can find a good selection of shops, restaurants, museums, a theatre and various sporting facilities, not to mention a 14th-century parish church, a fascinating Heritage Centre and a daily Pannier Market. For watersports enthusiasts, the beautiful beaches at Woolacombe, Croyde Bay and Saunton Sands are a must, affording some of the finest windsurfing in Devon, as well as being a haven for sunbathers and sandcastle builders. Wonderful walking and riding can be enjoyed in the nearby Exmoor National Park (6 miles), where red deer roam the rugged moors and magnificent sea views can be admired from lofty cliffs and headlands.
Among the many places to visit within a 5 mile radius are Arlington Court (NT), with its collection of model ships and Victorian accessories, and Marwood Hill Gardens, complete with its string of lakes, rare shrubs and exotic trees. The resorts of Ilfracombe, Combe Martin, Lynton and Lynmouth are also easily accessible, each offering its own blend of seaside charm. Golf and sailing, 8 miles. Shops 5 miles, pub 3 miles.

This exceptionally spacious barn conversion features a large living room with impressive wooden staircase to galleried landing and French door to patio and garden. Double doors leading to spacious dining room. Well-equipped farmhouse-style kitchen with stable door to garden. Utility with toilet. Double bedroom with en-suite bathroom, over-bath shower and toilet. First floor: Double bedroom with en-suite bathroom and toilet. Twin bedroom with en-suite shower room and toilet. Further twin bedroom with en-suite bathroom with over-bath power shower and toilet.

Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. The property is in a good rural location and is very spacious and fairly well equipped. There was plenty of space for our party of 5 and all enjoyed having en-suite bathroom facilities. The owners made us very welcome providing eggs, scones & cream and a bottle of wine on arrival. Only point for improvement would be to provide blackout blinds to the sky light windows in the bedrooms as this provided an early start to the day!! All things considered a lovely house and location to relax in. June 2012.
  2. Quiet and isolated. Good for young children. July 2011.
  3. Fresh flowers in many of the rooms, delicious fresh scones with clotted cream and jam welcomed us. Very friendly owners willing to help with any problems -not that we encountered many. A delight to feed the chickens, the donkeys, ponies and llamas were not so sociable!! July 2011.
  4. Lovely accommodation. Welcoming and spacious for two families. Children enjoyed the animals. Glorious sunshine for the week in the heart of North Devon countryside - very lucky! April 2011.
  5. The owners made us very welcome and provided lots of extras which made us feel very special. They were friendly and helpful and let the children experience ’hands-on’ contact with the animals which they loved. Convenient location for Woolacombe, Croyde, Barnstaple, and lovely walks available locally. House very spacious and well presented. April 2011.
