Property Description

West End Farm Cottage is in the wing of the owner’s property, a cruck construction medieval hall dating back to 1424. The holiday property has an abundance of timber framing internally and externally and the bedroom has the cruck construction visible. It is located in the heart of the stunning village of Pembridge with an unusual wealth of half timbered houses, which includes a collection of amenities including shops, cider mill, restaurants and pubs. As well as the architectural interest, there are many beautiful walks along the River Arrow and the surrounding area including the Black and White Trail. Kington, Leominster and the cathedral city of Hereford are close by. Shop and pub 200 yards.

Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. This cottage has been equipped to a very high standard by the owner - all appliances in tip top condition and immaculately clean. The furnishings are comfortable and appropriate for the cottage. The bed is very comfortable indeed and the bathroom very good. We felt we had been made very welcome by Mrs Tong and appreciated all her thoughtful touches around the property. Pembridge is a delightful village and it is a lovely base for lots more exploration of Herefordshire and Shropshire and even Wales. Stokesay Castle, Berrington Hall, Ludlow and Herford Cathedral are all must sees and for walkers the Elan Valley is stunning. We would recommend it to anyone. An evening stroll down to the River Arrow is just right to wet the appetite for supper. The local village shop and tea rooms have a great selection of groceries and the newspapers, their all homemade lunches and teas were excellent (cakes to die for), the pubs are good but you need a big appetite to cope with the generous portions offered. All in all a lovely holiday cottage in a gorgeous location. July 2012.
  2. A lovely cottage, very clean, tidy & comfortable. June 2012.
  3. An excellent cottage with a very friendly and helpful owner willing to go the extra mile. Lots of nice extras. Highly recommended. Sept 2011.
  4. West End Farm Cottage was a delightful place to stay. It was the best appointed holiday cottage we have ever stayed in: a lot of thought and care has gone into the way the cottage is set up. The owner gave us a warm welcome and was helpful and friendly without being intrusive. It was fascinating to stay in a cottage that dated back to the 1420s. A great holiday. Aug 2011.
  5. The best cottage we have stayed in, never stayed in one that was so well equipped, owner made us very welcome, would definetly stay there again. July 2011.
  6. The property is charming and full of character. We enjoyed eating at what was a butcher’s serving table overlooking the street. The front door is a barn door the top half of which we had open due to lovely weather. There is a very clean kitchen and cosy sitting room. Upstairs is a large open roofed bedroom with a very clean en suite. Tons of beams and character through out. The owner is lovely. April 2011.
  7. This was an extraordinary cottage dating from 1424!! The location was perfect for history buffs like us with the addition of living in a historical building on top. The owner went out of her way to help and assist us and was ideal as a hostess. April 2011.
  8. It was a delightful old property in the centre of a lovely village with plenty of space for 2. Oct 2010.
  9. Very homely, everything you needed. Oct 2010.
  10. Owner very welcoming and helpful. Accomodation of a high standard; virtually all that was needed was there. April 2010.
  11. It has a wealth of history and is well situated for exploring Ludlow, Leominster, Hereford and the other black and white villages. Oct 2009.
  12. Beautiful old house with masses of character. Very helpful owner who put in lots of little extra touches to make the place really special. Sept 2009.
  13. The cottage is the perfect place for a relaxing holiday. Everything and more than we hoped for. Its well furnished with all the extras you would expect of a hotel. Well done Sue, we will be back. The cottage was everything we were looking for, Sue was helpful but not invasive, being next door and when we needed her she was there. Don’t miss the red kite feeding centre in Wales its must. The area is lovely with lots to do we would go back as there are lots of things we didn’t have time to do. The cottage is the height of luxury. July 2009.
  14. Delightful owner. Lovely large garden for visitors’ use. Full of character and history. Welcome tray of tea, coffee, biscuits and a bottle of wine and milk. June 2009.
  15. Ideal location in the village and surrounding areas for exploring Herefordshire and Wales on foot and in the car. It was just as described and was excellently equipped - the owner had thought of everything - there was even milk in the fridge and a bottle of wine when we arrived. June 2009.
  16. We had a great week at West End Farm. The accommodation was very well presented, comfortable and beyond our expectations. The owner made us feel very welcome and provided lots of local information on things to do and see. The village of Pembridge is picturesque and very quaint with two good pubs and a restaurant to save cooking every evening. We would recommend this accommodation without reservation. May 2009.
