1. These terms and conditions should be read with the Booking Conditions and insurance information in our brochures or on our website. Especially note Sections 2, 4 and 7 of the Booking Conditions
2. Offer applies only to bookings for 2014 which are booked before 13th April 2014.
3. The low deposit payable under this offer is £25.
4. Does not apply to properties that sleep 10 or more.
5. The difference between the £25 low  deposit and the usual deposit shown in our main brochure or website is payable with the balance payment, which we must receive no later than 10 weeks before your booking starts, or at the time of cancellation if you cancel your booking. This payment will include all applicable charges as detailed on your booking confirmation, including any insurance premiums and any Ferry costs. If payment is not received in full on time, we can treat your booking as cancelled by you for a non-refundable reason. If this happens, you will be responsible for cancellation charges (as shown in our main brochure or our website) including any deferred Booking Fee, Personal Travel Insurance and Ferry crossings that you have chosen to buy, all of which must be paid immediately.

Property Description

Overlooking the River Wear, these superb conversions of the barn, old byre and stables provide a wonderful holiday retreat. Surrounded by unspoilt countryside and is set in a haven of peace and tranquillity. Adjoining one another, they lie within an attractive courtyard setting, complemented by a fountain and shrubberies. All the properties have been tastefully refurbished and are full of character and charm, with shared use of lovely grounds, children’s play area, summer house and games room. The pretty village of Frosterley has shops and pubs, with walks in every direction along Weardale. Described as England’s ’last wilderness’, and possibly one of the best kept secrets, the Durham Dales are situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, made up of a wonderful blend of rugged upland, impressive waterfalls, fertile river valleys and wild flower meadows. Pleasant towns and pretty villages dot the area – the historic market town of Barnard Castle lies within easy reach, and boasts castle remains overlooking the town, as well as the Bowes Museum. Built as an impressive French-style chateau, the museum houses a magnificent collection of fine and decorative art. Other places of interest are Raby Castle, the ruins of Egglestone Abbey and Rokeby Hall. Hexham (with stately abbey) is a good day trip out, as well as the splendid cathedral city of Durham, 15 miles. NB: Refs 24969, 24970, 24971 and 23712 (also on the same site) can be booked together to accommodate up to 27 guests.

First floor: 4 bedrooms: 2 double, one with en-suite shower room and toilet, 2 twin. Bathroom with corner bath, shower cubicle and toilet.

Gas woodburner in living room included. Washing machine. Tumble dryer. Freezer. Ample parking.

All properties: Gas central heating, gas, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Cot and high chair by arrangement with owner. DVD. CD. Microwave. Gas hob. Electricity oven. Dishwasher. Shared use of owner’s landscaped gardens with lawned terraces, children’s swings and summer house. Shared patio and furniture. Shared barbecue. Shared games room with pool table. Shared 1/2-acre courtyard. No smoking. NB: Pond 2 metres, pond 30 metres and 6 steps in grounds.

  1. The property is well equiped and the owner very helpful. A couple of minor issues were dealt with immediately. The garden area, which is away from the cottages, was a delight to find. It was just a pity that the poor weather conditions meant that we didn’t use it as much as we would have liked. Sept 2012.

The grounds of the cottage provided a wonderful play area for children, especially if they were old enough not to need too much supervision near the ponds. The courtyard was well laid out making a splendid area for sitting and eating in good weather. The scenery in the surrounding countryside was beautiful and spectacular. July 2011.
