Property Description

This holiday cottage is an 18th-century, Grade II listed converted Cornish barn. Features include exposed beams, stone walls and an enchanting garden with a small folly - ideal for al fresco dining giving a real sense of being in the countryside. Close to Port Isaac, made famous by Doc Martin, Tintagel, the mythical home of King Arthur, and Boscastle. Rock and Padstow within easy reach. Camelford, 1½ miles. Wadebridge, 9 miles, where the Camel Trail can be accessed following the Camel Estuary to Padstow, ideal for walking or cycling. Shop ⅓ mile, pub 1 mile.

  3. Well Barn was tricky to find, I’m glad we didn’t arrive in the dark! However with the owner Nigels directions, posted the week before we found it and the welcome we received was second to none. Nigel the owner was there and had already started a lovely fire for us in the large log burner as it was a wet, chilly and grey day. His exuberant enthusiasm and immediate pub recommendations, should we not wish to cook after the drive really set the scene for a lovely relaxing holiday. Nigel is very knowledgeable about the local area and the folder he’s created plus the wealth of leaflets on offer in the Barn made sure we had something planned for everyday. The Barn itself is wonderfully cosy with everything you could possibly need - including an ample supply of logs which the owner encouraged us to use, rather than ’the first basket is free’. That was a lovely touch and we really appreciated it. We did get one evening where we got to use the barbecue rather than the log burner but it was ace to have both - after all, the great British weather is predictable in it’s unpredictability! Overall 10/10. We had a wonderful stay and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Well Barn. July 2011.

  5. The renovation of this property has been done to a very high standard with a lot of attention to detail. We were made very welcome by the owner who has a wealth of knowledge about the region. My wife and I look for a quite break at this time of the year, this property lived up to expectation. The area has a lot of interesting cliff walks and coves, great for exploring the small ports etc, we were both quite taken with how clean Cornwall is. May 2011.
  6. A very welcoming and homely cottage in a quiet rural location, for those that enjoy golf, this particular property has views of which include the nearby golf course. It is also very close to shops in Camelford, and the local petrol station is one of the cheapest in the area. Nigel and Margaret (the owners) also provide an extensive list of local attractions and activities so there really is no need to plan anything, it literally is all there ready and waiting for your arrival.   15. Very high standard of accommodation and space. Nice gardens and good central heating, including underfloor. Very impressive overall. Very well furnished including provision of some groceries and fully equipped; friendly, helpful owners. Although not far off A39 down an unmade track it was satisfactorily quiet and part of a little hamlet. Very satisfied with overall holiday. We rated it 5*. April 2010.
