Property Description

Fabulous waterside views can be enjoyed from this stunning house which is literally a stone’s throw from the beach - an ideal all year round hideaway. Furnished in a New England style, the well-appointed holiday cottage adjoins another property and is a stylish retreat for family and friends. The grand drawing room at first floor level has French doors opening onto the balcony and is the perfect spot to sit and watch the myriad of boats bobbing in the water or sailing by at high tide. There is also a small kennel for a dog in the courtyard.
Instow is an unspoilt seaside village with large stretches of sandy beaches and dunes, fishermen’s cottages, shops and a good selection of pubs and restaurants specialising in locally caught seafood whilst the local village store and delicatessen is a delight. The area is a must for watersports, sailing enthusiasts and fishermen, whilst walkers and cyclists will enjoy the famous Tarka Trail which passes close by.
Further afield, the rugged North Devon coastline and wonderful surfing beaches of Croyde or Woolacombe are just a short drive away. North Devon is well positioned for visits to Exmoor, Dartmoor and North Cornwall including the local beauty spots of Bucks Mill, Clovelly and Hartland. With so much to explore in this lovely part of North Devon, this is the perfect base for a memorable holiday. Golf is available locally, and Bideford is just 3 miles away, with family attractions including The Big Sheep and The Milky Way adventure parks. There is an excellent choice of restaurants within a 5-minute walk. Shop 30 yards, pub 250 yards.

Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. Loved the cottage and location. The Christmas tree and bottle of fizz were nice touches. The children loved playing on the sands around the corner. John’s shop is fab and has everthing and everything! Pubs were warm and welcoming and even opened our tin of Duck Confit that the tin opener in the cottage was not man enough to manage. Dec 2011.
  2. Great place for short break, but an extra toilet would be good for 3 mixed couples especially with small kids. Views and location are fantastic! Dec 2011.
  3. The village of Instow is delightful and this house is perfectly located opposite the sea wall and harbour. The house is beautifully appointed with quality furnishings making it a real home from home. Views from the first floor loung are spectacular and I am sure we will be returning. March 2011.
  4. Clean, cosy with excellent central heating, well-decorated. Great location by a fantastic shop with fresh food. Plenty of plates, glasses, cutlery. Dec 2010.
  5. Location was amazing and house was lovely. Oct 2010.
  6. Location fantastic. Decor very tasteful and overall very comfy. July 2010.
  7. The property was well equipped . The beds were very comfortable and the views from the upstairs livingroom are unforgettable. July 2010.
  8. Beautiful accommodation, exactly as per the web site details. A beautiful setting overlooking the water. Amazing. July 2010.
  9. Quiet but near to the attractions of the Devon Coast. A very good base and the property had everything needed for a good holiday. The owners were most helpful and I would recommend this property. June 2010.
  10. Both the location and the quality of the house Waters Edge are superb. We had a lovely holiday with our son, daughter-in-law and our two year old grandson who was excellently catered for. We spoke to Lucy, the owner and she was very helpful about all things to do with small children. May 2010.
  11. Beautifully decorated home with every amenity for our baby. Great location for walks along the water, nearby pubs, food & exploring Devon. Very relaxing atmosphere, lovely weekend and will return! April 2010.
  12. Wonderful homely property. Has everything you need, even for the children. April 2010.
  13. Owners had thought of everything, the kitchen and whole house was well-stocked and decorated tastefully throughout. Very nice. Oct 2009.
  14. The only shortcoming was the fact that the property has only 1 bathroom to serve the three bedrooms/maximum 7 people. Watching the water from the comfortable furniture in the lounge through the French windows was more than adequate compensation. Sept 2009.
  15. Lovely, fresh decoration. Colour schemes wonderful. Good use of space. Fantastic location and views. Aug 2009.
  16. Clean, recently tastefully refurbished much of furnishings and decor from Laura Ashley, two large Flatscreen Tvs and plenty of utensils etc, fantastic outlook and views. Sept 2009.
