Property Description

A true rural hideaway, Waggoners Cottage is a beautiful, beamed, fairytale, detached holiday cottage tucked away in a quiet corner of a 600-acre working arable farm. Originally built in the 17th-century, and once a farm worker’s cottage, it has been restored to a high standard. The River Rother, a popular fishing and bird-watching spot, is a walk across the fields. An unpaved road leads first to the farmyard and then into the village with its pubs and locally renowned supermarket. The Cinque Ports of Rye (4 miles), and Tenterden, a traditional market town (10 miles), the coast at Camber Sands, Sissinghurst, Bateman’s, Great Dixter Gardens and Bodiam Castle are all accessible. Shop ¾ mile.

Living room with wood-burning stove in inglenook fireplace, tiled floor and step up to dining area. Galley-style kitchen with butler sink, tiled floor and utility area. Bathroom with shower attachment, over-bath shower and toilet. First floor: Large double bedroom with farmland views.

  1. We were looking for an idyllic cottage in the middle of no where but in a good location for exploring, walking & if possible not far from the sea. I had this image in my mind of the percet place & thought that we would never find it. As soon as I saw the Waggoners Cottage I knew that I had found the perfect place without even looking at the pictures of inside! When we got there it didn’t disappoint. Perfect. We would love to recommend this place to our friends but we can’t as we want to keep it a secret and keep it for our very own! We will definetely be back!! Everything that you could possibly need was there. Very clean & the laundry smelt great! They even provided the good weather. We had breakfast on the patio every morning and watched the hares & swallows. June 2012.
  2. Lovely quiet and secluded location, yet convenient for all amenities, shop and pub just down the lane and plenty of interesting places to see in the area. Also ideal for just taking walks from the cottage and relaxing. Good sized well equipped kitchen and lovely comfortable bed. We had cosy evenings in front of the log fire but it would have been wonderful to have been able to sit outside on the table and chairs with a glass of wine and watch the sun set but as the weather didn’t allow, there’s something to look forward to on our next visit. May 2012.
  3. Would go back without hesitating, peasmarsh is a peacful little village with the main town of Rye only ten minutes drive away. A perfect get away for couples to go away for a romantic break, also great for walkers as is is set in lovely countryside. May 2012.
