Property Description

This delightful holiday cottage with glorious views has a decked rooftop area (access via double bedroom), and is perfectly located in the historic village of Hartland on the North Devon Coast. It is perfect place in which to unwind, yet is just a stroll from the village centre with three good pubs, village shops with local produce along with craft shops and galleries. The famous surfing beaches of Westward Ho! and Bude are an easy drive and The Big Sheep and The Milky Way Adventure Parks are close by. Shops, pub and restaurant 200 yards.

Ground floor: Living room with patio doors and wooden floor. Dining room/kitchen. Step up to 1 double bedroom. First floor: 2 bedrooms: 1 double, 1 single, both with wooden floors. Bathroom with shower over bath and toilet. External utility room.

Electric woodburner in living room included. Oil central heating, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Freesat TV. DVDs. Electric cooker. Microwave/oven/grill. Washing machine (in utility room). Dishwasher. Freezer (in utility room). Wi-fi. Lawned garden with terrace, patio area and furniture. Barbecue. On road parking (20 yards). Car park (200 yards). No smoking. NB: 6 steps in garden.

  5. Excellent cottage in a wonderful area of Devon. Brilliant beaches in Bude and Westwood Ho. Great food at the Hart Inn in Hartland village. Hartland Quay 2 miles away with great views and excellent picnic area. Great walks right outside the cottage, enjoyed the lovely views, wildlife from the patio, deer, hawks etc. Looking forward to going back next year. July 2011.

I was anxious that Valley View would be suitable for an 80 and 74 year old, in terms of level ground, and found that, although the garden slopes and steps are built-in, they loved the cottage and garden so much that nothing was a problem! The views are amazing and such a relaxing area. A cake and a welcome bottle of wine greeted us on arrival and we all found the cottage beds, bed linen, kitchen utensils etc to be of a very high standard and, basically, it was superb throughout. An excellent break for us all. July 2011.
  8. The cottage is is in the delightful village of Hartland in the beautiful peninsula of the same name. This peninsula seems to be largely unvisited, unlike the neighbouring village of Clovelly. Ideal for exploring on foot. It overlooks a pretty valley, which is as charming in the morning mist as bright sunshine. The cottage is one of the best, if not the best equipped one I’ve stayed in. The owner Lorraine is very friendly and gave us a lovely welcome, showing us also how things worked. I also met the cleaner on the last day, she too was very friendly and interested to know that we’d had a good holiday. I recommend Valley View and the Hartland area unreservedly. June 2011.

  10. Wonderful cottage with a bottle of wine and cake after a long trip.Lovely shared garden with plenty of little shops to have a look in the village.Perfect location for Barnstaple and Bideford. Such a lovely cottage, would definitely go back!! June 2011.
  11. Owners very pleasant and helpful. The ’valley view’ from the patio was idyllic. Ideally situated for both Bude/Bideford/Barnstaple and lots of smaller seaside towns such as Clovelly, Westward Ho and Instow. Had a wonderful holiday and certainly intend to return asap. April 2011.

  13. The accommodation was very comfortable, very well presented and equipped to a high standard. The views from the patio area are beautiful. The village the property is located within, is very quaint and the two shops were very convenient as only a short walk. We would highly recommend a visit to The Hart Inn, which is just a minute walk from the property, as their food is superb. Aug 2010.
