Property Description

In an idyllic position on the leafy banks of the River Sorgue with only the sound of the birds, the cigalles and the rippling water, it is hard to believe the shops, cafés and restaurants of the town centre are only a short walk away. All the rooms of this small semi-detached villa open onto the lawned gardens with a sunny pool and poolhouse, which are shared with the discreet owners as well as one other holiday property at the end of the garden (F84236). It has its own private dining terrace overlooking the river where you can watch the jade dragonflies, ducks and trout drift by from the comfort of the hammock slung between the trees. The town is criss-crossed by the clear river, and renowned for its antiques shops and lively market. The property is well placed for discovering this interesting area of Provence. There is a golf course 3km away.

Location: 17km E of Gordes (famous hilltop village with stunning views over Luberon Regional Park), 23km E of Avignon (Papal Palace, historic city, famous bridge, lively summer festival), 28km NE of St. Remy-de-Provence (Roman antiques, museum, shops, restaurants), 63km N of Aix-en-Provence, 80km from beaches.

  1. This is a lovely very private little house attached to the owners’ villa. Very secluded and private. The owners are very nice and speak good english. They even invite the residents of both cottages in the grounds for a drink & canapes on a monday evening, which we found was very nice indeed. Sept 2012.
  2. Mimi and Patrick were very kind hosts and we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. The cottage is attractively decorated and is in lovely grounds, with a nice dining area outside. It is in an ideal location - very peaceful but with an easy, flat walk to the town. The Sunday market in town is wonderful and we enjoyed coffees outside the Cafe de France in the main square. We had an easy day trip to Avignon by train. A very relaxing holiday. Many thanks. Sept 2012.
  3. The owners were delightful, pool a bit chilly but cottage would be good for honeymooners. Beautiful and private with a stream running along the cottage. You can not swim in it. June 2011.
  4. I could only recommend this lovely picturesque village/town. It has got so much character and the location is perfect for little trips around Provence. Very good train service, super market walking distance to stock up with food etc. The gite itself is absolutely lovely and the owners are so generous and very very kind and welcoming. They made us feel at home and made our stay very special. The gite is very well equipped and supplied with the basic need ie. coffee, tea, salt, pepper etc. There was also very nice bottle of wine in the fridge as a welcome gesture and bottle of water and fresh milk. The owners put lot of thought in to their gite and the love and care is shown all the way through the place. I will be certainly coming back and can only highly recomend. We had a very special holiday. Thank you very much. June 2011.
  5. Absolute delightful property run by a wonderful French couple. Close to town, however the property itself is tucked away so very quiet. Great pool and other facilities, we had a fantastic time. Isle Sur La Sorgue is very close to walk to, including some excellent places to eat such as Cafe Fleur, Vivier and a range of others. We would whole heartedly recommend Utopia. May 2011.
  6. We are a retired couple. Lots of little personal touches made Utopia a little gem of a place. Very friendly and discrete hosts who we liked a lot. They also gave us as much privacy as we wanted in a beautiful setting right at the riverside and within very easy walking distance into the lovely and interesting small town. Easy walking too to the railway too when we wanted to go into wonderful Avignon (instead of the stressful driving, for us, on the wrong side of the road). Swimming pool excellent as was the hammock! In the following weeks we drove to other gites north and west of Montpelier and found the driving there much more stressful on the narrow mountain roads. But around Utopia we had no problems and we were new to driving on the right then. So many lovely places nearby. Thoroughly recommend this gite. May 2011.
