Lying between the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District National Parks, this 200-year-old character cottage in the historic village of Burton, has exposed beams and an open fire. The cosy first floor living space has a fully fitted kitchen and stairs leading down to the entrance hall, two bedrooms and a bathroom. Kirkby Lonsdale (5 miles) is a charming, historic market town by the River Lune and boasts many specialist shops and restaurants. The larger towns of Kendal and Lancaster offer museums, castles and other leisure facilities including golf, swimming and dry-skiing. The coastal areas of Arnside, Silverdale and Leighton Moss (RSPB) are a 5-mile drive and are delightful. Shop, pub and restaurant 250 yards.

Ground floor: 2 bedrooms: 1 double, 1 twin (2ft 6in for children). Bathroom with shower over bath and toilet. First floor: Living/dining room with beams. Kitchen.

Open fire in living room (no fuel provided). Gas central heating, electricity and bed linen included. CD. Electric cooker. Microwave. Dishwasher. Parking (1 car). No smoking.

  4. Upside-down Tyee Cottage is a cosy home-from-home in a perfect, idyllic village location en route from Lancaster and Morecambe Bay for the Lakes. This was my second stay and it was like coming home. May 2011.
  5. Fantastic property, full of charm and the log fire was a bonus. The location is ideal for accessing the lakes, Cumbria and the coast. The village is a good size, with local amenities (bakers, butchers, post office/local store and very friendly pub). Dec 2010.

  15. A lovely cottage with an upside down arrangement. It was very well presented with no hidden extras eg central heating included in the price. The safety gate at the top of the stairs was very useful for our small dog and for anyone with small children an essential.Very useful to have off road parking. The road through the village could be a bit noisy, but no real problem. We would highly recommend this property. Nov 2008.
