Property Description

Just a short drive from the northern ports of France, you can experience life in a real French château, with five acres of gardens and mature trees together with a lake. The holiday properties have been lovingly restored by their English owners with great attention to detail and are within walking distance of Hesdin with its popular Thursday market, restaurants and bars to enjoy. The properties are ideally placed for exploring the 7 Vallées region with its pretty villages nestling in the valleys, yet under an hour from the lovely sandy beaches of the Côte d’Opale’s seaside resorts including Le Touquet and Hardelot. Enjoy the many summer festivals in the region, browse for bargains at the local brocantes or enjoy lunch and dinner in one of the many restaurants nearby. The area is very popular with walkers, cyclists and canoeists alike with excellent facilities nearby. Dine al fresco on the terrace in front of the château or enjoy a picnic in the grounds.

All on first floor: Living/dining room. Kitchen. Double bedroom. Shower room/WC.

Location: 300m from Marconne centre (shop, bar, restaurant), 700m from Hesdin (market, restaurants, bars, supermarket), 35km from Berck (beach).

Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. No visitors’ book! Charming, quirky, fun, but not very practical! Comfortable bed and seating, but no wardrobe to hand clothes, nowhere to put toiletries in shower room and little storage space in kitchen (cabinets or shelves) for personal items. May 2012.
  2. Lovely 1st floor apartment with as much charm and character on the outside, as on the inside, with traditional ’faded’ grand country house styling. The grounds are pleasant. Hesdin is a very very sleepy town which was an easy walk of 10mins from the apartment. The town has some charming old buildings and a number of restaurants, bars and cafes and on the outskirts there are several supermarkets. A five minute drive away just outside the town there is a beautiful forest for long leafy walks. We used the apartment as a base to daily tour from and we found that we were about a 30-45 minute drive from somewhere we wanted to explore in this history packed area. We enjoyed the long beach near Berck where you can walk for miles enjoying the beach, spectacular sand dunes and the eerie disused WWII concrete bunkers. We especially enjoyed the beautiful old towns of Le Touquet - 1920’s glamour, Montreuil sur mer - ancient town on a hill with intact ramparts, cobbled streets and beautiful views, the estuary towns of Le Crotoy and Saint Valery sur Somme - with it’s mixture of ancient buildings, cobbled streets and an old port with spectacular views of the estuary and the wildlife in it, we also liked Arras for its old market squares. We visited the Somme Battlefield sites and found the Canadian Memorial at a Beaumont Hamel where you can walk into the preserved trenches and the large memorial at Thiepval. We had a lovely holiday making the most of our week in this region despite the unseasonable cold damp weather. June 2011.
  3. Lovely elegant chateau, with great rooms and space in the apartment for 2 people, with a relaxing garden. June 2011.
  4. A lovely apartment in a beautiful setting. Easy and pleasant walk into town for a good range of restaurants and bars. May 2011.
  5. Every thing about this property was first class, only one fault, no clothes washing facility. June 2010.
  6. Very interesting property with views over grounds. April 2010.
