Property Description

Just a short drive from the North Cornish Coast in a truly peaceful location, this grand, detached farmhouse commands an imposing position surrounded by pretty gardens and rolling countryside. Refurbished to a very comfortable standard, it offers spacious accommodation and is ideal for large parties or families wishing to holiday together. The historic village of Stratton is just ¼ mile with its lovely church, attractive inns and village shop. Bude, 2 miles, sits dramatically, perched high on the North Cornish Coast. It is incredibly popular year-round and yet manages to retain its Victorian charm whilst offering something for everyone and has an excellent selection of shops and restaurants, many offering local seafood. Water sports enthusiasts will find some of the best surfing waters in Europe nearby, while the golden sands at Widemouth Bay and Crackington Haven (with its rock pools) are ideal for a fun family day out. Walkers, too, are well catered for; gentle strolls can be enjoyed along the towpath of Bude’s canal, which, with its bird hide, attracts all manner of wildlife, while more exhilarating walks can be taken along the spectacular coastal path which winds along high cliffs and includes many lovely, dog-friendly beaches and hidden coves. The Bude and North Cornwall Golf Club (one of Cornwall’s finest) is close by, along with bowling, an indoor ‘Splash’ pool and seawater-fed outdoor pool. Tennis, horse riding, mountain boarding, surfing and fishing are all on offer locally and the internationally acclaimed jazz festival is fantastic and not to be missed. This is a region steeped in legends of King Arthur, with the mystical ruins of a 12th-century castle at Tintagel and the historic coastal village of Boscastle each easily accessible. The picture-postcard village of Clovelly, with winding cobbled streets and quaint fishing harbour lies further north. The Eden Project is also within a short drive; a major attraction, the site promotes the symbiotic relationship between people, plants and natural resources, with three geodesic domes housing plants from around the world. All in all, Trew House offers the perfect base for exploring the many delights which both Devon and Cornwall have to offer. Beach 2 miles. Shop 1/2 mile.

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. Perfect property, perfect location, perfect holiday. The location is outstanding and perfect for large family parties including the dogs. Great position for Bude and the north coast. Both village pubs friendly and offer great food. The owner also called to check if everything was ok which was very kind. Highly recommended. June 2012.
  2. Trew House is absolutely beautiful, the photos don’t do it justice. There were 12 of us plus a baby staying there, but the house is so big, there was plenty of space for all of us and room to ’escape’ to if required. June 2012.
  3. 8 of us stayed in the beautiful Trew house for the weekend to celebrate my fathers retirement and enjoyed every minute. The house is very clean, very spacious and fully loaded. The owner was extremely helpful and we will definitely be returning for another relaxing weekend. Thank you. April 2012.
  4. Fanastic property, that provides a great break for a large party. Of particular benefit, were the exceptionally comfortable beds. Extremely comfortable for a big group of varied ages, as there are enough reception rooms to allow children their own space. The location was very convenient with an excellent pub in the village (walking distance). Dec 2011.
  5. A beautiful family cottage with plenty of space to relax and enjoy spending time with friends. Garden space and gas BBQ was excellent. Sept 2011.
  6. The property was very spacious and the photos don’t do it justice. There is a large family kitchen with a table that comfortably sat ten people. The entire house was fully equipped with everything that you could need. The gardens are secure for children with a grassed area perfect for ball games. Excellent value for a holiday with family and friends. Aug 2011.
  7. Very comfortable, clean and spacious house. The location is perfect, isolated but close to Bude and the main road. We met the owner who is very friendly and helpful. May 2011.
  8. Everything we needed was supplied, including enough logs to last all week for the woodburner. Water was always piping hot. The owner is lovely and very helpful. Fabulous place with lovely gardens. Could not find any fault. Would recommend. April 2011.
  9. The weekend was made by the helpfulness of the owners. A small booking mishap was quickly recified and they couldn’t have responded quicker. Great location with a smashing restaurant in the village. Would highly recommend. Oct 2010.
  10. It was nicely presented!! Very clean and well kept. It has a welcoming atmosphere. Sept 2010.
  11. The seclusion, plenty of outside space, lots of public rooms and excellent family dining kitchen. We thought that the description of the property understated it - it is even better than we envisaged. June 2010.
  12. Lovely warm family friendly house with excellent garden for children and lovely views. Would easily recommend. Aug 2008.
  13. Wonderful house. Beautiful scenery. Love the cows. If you want a really great meal, the Tree Inn pub is excellent. Had lots of fun. Sept 2006.
  14. 2nd year here which felt as good as the 1st. Had a lovely, relaxing, enjoyable stay. Thanks a million. July 2006.
  15. The absolutely delightful thing about the accommodation was the surroundings. It is tucked well away from any busy roads and the sense of peace and tranquility just allows you to start to relax the instant you arrive. The kitchen is the heart of the house and feels very warm and welcoming. Great for sitting and chatting over the large pine table. July 2008.
