Property Description

Tranquil and secluded, Trekara is a former piggery with beautiful views across open countryside, providing the perfect holiday retreat. This detached single-storey barn is set in a peaceful corner of the owner’s 4½-acre organic small-holding and has been lovingly restored with a wealth of original and contemporary features, such as exposed beams and solid oak floors throughout. There are regular wildlife visitors such as deer, badgers, bats and migrating birds. The Eden Project is 7 miles whilst Padstow and Fowey are both 15 miles. Lanhydrock House (NT) and cycle hub, offering 61/4 miles of off road cycle trails is about 11/2 miles away. The Camel Trail is just over 2 miles away for walkers, cyclists and nature trails. Golf 1 mile. Horse riding, swimming and leisure centre 1½ miles. Shops and pub 1½ miles.

  1. The perfect cottage for two. Although the owners’ property was nearby the cottage faced a beautiful view and it really felt like splendid isolation - peace and quiet. The owners were very hospitable and we enjoyed cake, fresh eggs and goat’s milk! One of our favourites. Oct 2012.
  2. Lovely location, central for visiting most of Cornwall, easily accessible to A30. Owners were pleasant and helpful, and left us a homemade cake, milk and some eggs from their smallholding.   8. Trekara is excellently situated for both the north and south coasts of Cornwall, as well as for Bodmin Moor and the Camel Estuary. The property itself is cosy - great for two - and is full of personal touches, which was nice. The views out over the local countryside from the property’s own patio helped with the relaxation after a busy day exploring. May 2011.

Friendly and helpful owners who are happy for a chat and to leave you to get on with things too - a perfect mix.   15. Trekara really has been sympathically renovated, with great furnishings and finishes. The owners have a great eye for detail and now how to make people feel welcome and at home. We loved the rural location and enabled us to really tune out from our busy working lives. June 2010.
