Property Description

Beautifully converted from a Victorian barn, these two cottages are situated off a quiet lane close to the hamlet of Treggidden, which is centrally located on the famous Lizard Peninsula. Furnished and equipped to a high standard, they adjoin one another and nestle amidst 14 acres of grass and woodland (which the retired owners run as a hobby farm) with a small stream forming the southern boundary. Just 10 miles from Helston and 23 miles from Falmouth, this area of Cornwall is well known for its wealth of wildlife, many NT gardens, sheltered sandy beaches and romantic coves. The tranquil wooded coastline running up to the Helford Estuary offers some of the most spectacular walks in the south-west.

The owners live with their dogs on the farm, which is run as a retirement hobby. In addition to horses grazing the land there are chickens and ducks with an oguage garden railway in the orchard.

  1. Eggs from the farm & pint of milk on arrival, with friendly welcome from the owners was appreciated, as was freedom to walk through the farm fields & woodland valley. An ideal base for families, with plenty of nearby beaches, gardens & local attractions. May 2012.
  2. We had a lovely stay at Jemima Cottage G52. It was as advertised, if not better. The overall building finish was excellent and our hosts have clearly put a lot of time into it. They have included all the basics you would require for a short stay. I didn’t find the bed in the master bedroom to be all that comfortable - perhaps a bit too soft for me, but that is just personal preference. Otherwise, it was comfortable, very clean and warm, and everything was in perfect working order. The farm location was in a fairly remote rural location, but we were surprised how easy the access was down to Lizard Point (20mins), Penzance (20 mins) and even St Ives was only 30 mins. Of course it is not on or near the coastline that Cornwall is famous for, but we spent so much time during the holiday on the coast that it didn’t matter at the end of the day. And we got a much better deal because the property is inland. It was so quiet and peaceful, especially at night when the stars were fantastic. Our kids (8+12) enjoyed the horses and seeing the chickens (not to mention the fresh eggs) and got a kick out of the model railway which our host has a hobby in the barn. It was time and money well spent. Oct 2011.

  9. You are in for a treat! Our cottage was lovely & warm on arriving & we were welcomed with a bottle of milk, some delicious fresh eggs & chocolates to help celebrate easter. The owners were so kind, allowing our 4 yr old & 2 yr old to feed the horses carrots, play with their dogs & had we been home at the right time, they could have fed the chickens & collected eggs. The property is just lovely & set deep in the countryside. You get a great night’s sleep in comfortable beds, pitch black & no sounds of traffic. A pleasure after the constant hum of life in London. The cottage was light, comfortable & clean. A simple television set & CD player. Not luxurious by any standards, but had all the mod cons & best of all - no need to worry about breaking anything with young children!! We loved this place & will definitely return. The walking in the region is sensational. March 2008.
