Property Description

Bursting with charm and elegance, this exceptional, detached property boasts its own private indoor heated swimming pool, decked area and landscaped gardens, all of which enjoy the magnificent views overlooking the Cardigan Bay coastline and Cader Idris mountain range. Its semi-isolated position, accessed by an unmade farm track, means it lies high above the village of Arthog with mountain and sea views and makes it a truly relaxing holiday retreat.
The area is the gateway to the Snowdonia National Park and has plenty of attractions to suit all ages and tastes nearby. Award-winning beaches surround the area with their clean bathing and golden sands. Golf enthusiasts can try their hand at Fairbourne, approximately 2 miles.
Nearby Dolgellau was subject to several gold rushes in the 1860s, when small amounts were found in the estuary, drawing hopeful prospectors from afar. Although some of the quartz veins did yield an amount of the precious metal, the source was short lived. At Bontddu, a few miles west of Dolgellau, gold extracted from that source was used for both the Queen’s wedding ring, and that of Prince Charles and Princess Diana. Today the town comes alive in mid July during the Sesiwn Fawr, when a series of bands and musical activities take place in pubs and open-air stages. For walkers, Dolgellau makes a good base for a number of wonderful walks, including hikes up the magnificent Cader Idris or more gentle ambles along the Mawddach Estuary. Horse riding and train rides along the coast are available locally; not to be missed are the Creggenan Lakes. Other attractions include King Arthur’s Labyrinth in Corris, near Machynlleth, where an underground boat takes visitors into the spectacular caverns under the Braichgoch mountain, accompanied by light and sound effects. The Corris craft centre offers a delight of local crafts, including jewellery, pottery, turned wood, leather goods and candles amongst others. Other places of interest include the Centre for Alternative Technology, the Talyllyn Railway, the unusual Italianate village of Portmeirion and the lively seaside town of Barmouth with its pretty harbour, great beach and seafood. Snowdonia is just under 1 hour away.

Large living room. Dining room. Modern well-equipped kitchen with breakfast bar. Double bedroom with four-poster bed and en-suite shower room and toilet. Three twin bedrooms. Bathroom with spa bath, shower cubicle and toilet.

  1. One of the nicest properties we have stayed in. Exceptionally clean and very comfortably furnished. The owners had thought of everthing. Very peaceful location with lovely views from the verandah plus a great swimming pool. The owners had thought of everything that made for a wonderful vacation. August 2012.
  2. Furnished and equipped to the highest standard, welcoming (especially the coffee cake)and comfortable, Fantastic views and well thought out pool design and facilities. April 2012.
  3. We went to another property with a pool previously, this was 100% better, we will return to tree tops this year. March 2012.
  4. Lovely setting and views. The track up was a bit rough in places but worth it. The cottage itslef was clean, comfortable, spacious and a place to relax. The only downside was the gate is a bit of a drag to open and close. March 2012.
  5. House was fab!!! Everything we could have wanted and views and swimming pool are amazing! Owners were really helpful too. Dec 2011.
  6. The views from the house are amazing and the house is very homely and comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped and had everything we needed to cater for our family. We were lucky with the weather - but even with bad weather days there was plenty of room in the house to play games and the pool was well used whilst we were there. Oct 2011.
  7. We had a lovely holiday at Treetops. The weather was good and the facilities were very good. The owners are so helpful, the fridge freezer started to fail whilst on holiday. I notified the owner and he was there with a new fridge freezer the following day. Extremely good service. Very impressed and will certainly go back to Treetops. Aug 2011.
  8. Excellent cottage in lovely quiet location. Great having the swimming pool we had a lot of fun in it. March 2011.
  9. Best cottage that we have hired in several years. Fantastic accommodation and views. Surrounding ara so much quieter than usual stamping grounds of Devon and Cornwall. Would consider re-booking. Feb 2011.
  10. Great peaceful location with excellent views. Accommodation and swimming pool first class! Aug 2010.
  11. "Treetops" provides a first class holiday base with stunning views of the sea, Mawddach river and surrounding countryside. The standard of accommodation is exceptional and the indoor swimming pool is a real bonus. The location of the property is superb for walkers as the Cadair Idris range is nearby. Our family have voted "Treetops" our favourite holiday destination. Aug 2010.
  12. Treetops is a lovely tranquil haven. It is beautifully furnished and feels like a home from home. The kitchen is well equipped and has everything you needed to cater for a family. Our children loved the pool! Aug 2010.
  13. The accommodation was fabulous - everything you wanted had been provided. July 2010.
  14. The scenery was spectacular could not fault the property, the owner very helpful and friendly hence already booked from October possibly book for 2011 only fault would be the lane up to the property very steep and potholes, but super views once you reach the top. May 2010.
  15. The whole property is excellent and catered for all our needs. Nov 2009.
  16. Magnificent heated swimming pool. Oct 2009.
  17. Could not have asked for more, it was clean, plenty of kitchen utensils, crockery, cutlery etc. Sofas were comfy, beds not too bad, and view across the estuary was so beautiful. We contacted the owner with a parking query and he could not have been more helpful, told us we could call him anytime day or night, very nice people. We had a thoroughly enjoyable holiday. thank you. Sept 2009.
  18. There is something for everyone here. Good places to eat out. Beaches not far away. Safe cycle routes ranging from the Mawddach trail (a disused railway track) to Sustrans’ Route 8 (an energetic circuit of Cader Idris). Walks ranging from a gentle stroll in the woods to some serious mountain walking within a few miles. Outstanding situation with great views, but with peace and quiet. Probably the best cottage we have ever booked from you. The indoor pool is excellent and makes it possible to keep active in any weather. Aug 2009.
  19. The house is beautiful and in a lovely location. At the end of a track winding up a steep hill, it is remote enough for lots of privacy and the views were stunning. The house was to a very high standard and very well maintained. The pool was excellent and much enjoyed by all of us. A note on the directions about the track leading the house may be useful, we were in a 4x4 which coped well, if we had been in my car, we would have struggled to use the track. July 2009.
  20. We were very pleasantly surprised by the cottage, it’s beautiful, inside and outside, with being situated away from other cottages we really enjoyed the space and peace and quite. March 2009.
