Lovely views from the garden

A charming, beamed, terraced cottage in the hamlet of Lowick Green close to the road to Coniston (9 miles), providing a year round holiday base with its cosy open fire. Ideally placed to tour Southern Lakeland, Coniston Water (3 miles) and Lake Windermere (7 miles). The Cumbrian beaches are nearby for bird watching and gentle strolling, whilst the Lake District Fells surround for energetic walks with stunning views from the peaks. Ulverston (5 miles) has stylish boutiques, cinema, theatre and many restaurants and cafes. Dog kennel in garden. Shop and restaurant 1 mile, pub 20 yards.

Ground floor: Living/dining room. Kitchen. Steep stairs to first floor: 2 bedrooms with sloping ceilings: 1 double with inter-linking door to 1 single. Bathroom with shower over bath, toilet and low beams.

Open fire in living room (initial fuel included). Electric heaters, NSH, bed linen and towels included. DVD. CD. Triple Aga. Washer/dryer. Dishwasher. Fridge/freezer. Wi-fi. Private lawned garden with patio and furniture. Parking (1 car). No smoking. Friday to Friday. NB: Steps in the garden.

  1. The cottage was lovely everything that you would want for a chill out walking holiday, with the most fabulous huge Aga, which made the cottage toasty warm for our September holiday and very easy to use. TV was all good all channels avaliable so nothing missed. Sept 2012.
  2. Perfectly located to access the most popular areas of the lake district, as well as the more secluded locations too. We found 2 beautiful little villages to explore with a wonderful array of shops and quaint little streets and buildings. These were Hawkshead and Cartmel. Hawkeshead is the place where the Beatrix Potter museum is located and there is a great little cafe where you are given a wonderful welcome and fabulous food. We also went up to Beatrix potters house which is about a 10 minute drive away. Cartmel has a wonderful priory and is well worth a visit. The village is very picturesque and the shops are great to browse around. There is a small racecourse which looked as thought it would be great to visit when there is a meeting is on. The scenery is spectacular and I would thoroughly recommend a drive through the passes and a trip to Buttermere lake and the area. The Aga was great but we lost power halfway through the holiday which is a shame but that was only downside and that was not the fault of the cottage and was just one of those things. June 2012.
  3. Tipsy Drake Cottage was a quaint cottage in a perfect location. It was extremely cosy and we always looked forward to coming ’home’ to it at the end of each day. One of the reasons we chose this cottage was the fact that we could take our dog and we were fortunate to find an excellent pub within walking distance (The Royal Oak) that was not only pet friendly but also served great food...bonus!!! I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending Tipsy Drake....and would quite happily return tomorrow!!! Dec 2011.

  15. Tipsy Drake is in a good location for the South Lakes, The drive to Lake Coniston and on up through to Ambleside was lovely, with the pub across the road serving good food made it a really nice stay. July 2009.
