Property Description


Nestled in a sea front position beside the shore of a west coast sea loch, in the peaceful village of Strachur, this stylish holiday cottage is light and airy with picture windows which give uninterrupted panoramic views over Loch Fyne and the mountains beyond. It is in an area of great natural beauty, lying between the edge of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, the Argyll Forest Park, and the spectacular seascapes of the west coast of Argyll, yet is very accessible (approximately a 90-minute drive from Glasgow) and makes a perfect base for touring and walking. Strachur village itself is well provided with amenities and has an excellent hotel which welcomes non residents for drinks and meals. It also has a well-stocked village shop with attached tea room and bistro, all of which are within easy walking distance of the cottage. There is a slipway where a small boat or dinghy can be launched, and also tennis courts. Nearby, there are interesting and historic towns and villages. Inveraray is the closest town. Oban, known as the gateway to the isles, with its colourful harbour, and the dramatic mountains of Glencoe, near Fort William are scenic day excursions. In a different location, the Kyles of Bute are nearby and in yet another direction, you pass through the mountainous scenery of the National Park to Loch Lomond with its cruise boats. Wildlife is abundant, there are some glorious gardens to visit and there are plenty of outdoor pursuits including walking and cycling. Shop/bistro 1/4 mile, hotel pub 1/2 mile.

  1. Lovely location over looking Loch Fyne, really comfortable place with everything you could need. Local shop is great and only a short walk. Red squirrels in the garden what more could anyone want. Pubs not bad either. Oct 2011.
  2. Watch out for red squirrels outside the kitchen windows, stealing nuts from the bird feeder! Lots of nice walks nearby (try Puck’s Glen), also near lovely town of Inveraray. And don’t miss the cheap and delicious seafood at Loch Fyne Oyster Bar & Restaurant nearby (they also have a takeaway market). Also there is a convenient shop and cafe just a short walk away (even on rainy days) selling most things you need (ready meals, frozen meat, milk, fresh vegetables, fire wood, toiletries). Oct 2011.
  3. The view was amazing, the owners were lovely explained everything to us and the best routes and places, to get the most from our time. Everything we needed was there and the information area they had made was extremely useful. July 2011.
  4. Perfect location overlooking Loch Fyne. Cottage had everything you could ask for - all to a high standard to make your stay enjoyable and relaxing. Plenty to see and do in the area, great area for Pub Lunches too. Can recommend this property without hesitation. April 2011.
  5. The standard of the cottage was excellent. We like where it was situated right next to the Loch. We found it very comfortable and very warm and cosy. It had a very modern feel about it in respect of fittings and decoration. We really didn’t want to leave. It was a home from home. Nov 2010.
  6. The property was excellent with everything you could possibly need and the owner was there to meet us and show us round as well as giving us ideas as where to visit. The views were magnificent and it was great for watching wild life. It was one of the best properties we have stayed at and we hope to visit again. Sept 2010.
