Property Description

This traditional highland croft house was renovated to make the most of its light, bright interior, with superb views across the Fairy Glen and around to Uig Bay. It is set directly above the attractive Glen Conon, in a quiet, rural location, with a large garden surrounded by croft land. The cottage is ideally situated for walking, hill climbing, bird watching and enjoying the outdoors, with Trotternish Ridge and Ben Edra mountain within walking distance from the front door. The spectacular Quairaing and a sandy beach at Staffin Bay are an easy drive away, and the nearby village of Uig has shops, pubs, a petrol station and the Outer Isles ferry terminal. There is a local pottery with ’have a go’ sessions, and a nearby outdoor activity centre with kayaking in the bay. Pretty Portree, the island’s capital, is 20 minutes drive away, with all amenities, restaurants and supermarkets. Shop/PO ½ mile, pub ¾ mile.

Step to entrance. Living room with wood-burning stove and rugs on wooden floor. Well-equipped, fitted kitchen/dining room with quarry-tiled floor. Shower room with toilet. First floor: Two bedrooms, each with sloping ceiling and rugs on wooden floor; one double and one twin.

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. A really comfortable cottage with excellent facilities and in a good location. July 2011.
  2. The cottage is very pleasant and well equipped for those of us that like doing a lot of cooking whilst away! The view is superb and points such as a small DVD/CD library welcome. We would stay again. July 2011.
  3. Peace and quiet. June 2011.
  4. A real gem. Stunning location and views. Very lucky with the weather. Bridget an excellent host-very friendly. Would recommend it. April 2011.
  5. A superb cottage in a fantastic remote location. Very cosy. On wet and windy days it was great to stay in and sample the books from the excellent mini-library. Owner charming - popped round to see how we were doing. Locals very friendly. Walks at Quiraing, Storr and Fingal’s Tomb highly recommended - fine views on clear days and mysteriously dramatic when misty. You could spend the the entire week exploring the Trotternish peninsula with minimal driving. Try the fish from the shop at the end of Portree Harbour - top class! Take time to stop at the Sligachan Hotel for views of the Cuillin - even better if you cross the road and follow the track towards Loch Coruisk. After about 30 mins you start to see into some of the big corries - still a long way away but stunning. April 2011.
  6. Well kept, very clean and homely cottage totally away from it all. Feb 2011.
  7. Secluded situation. Comfort. Oct 2010.
  8. This property offers an excellent standard of accommodation on a beautiful and relaxing setting. The owners attention to detail is second to none - there is everything you could possibly want here. Sept 2010.
  9. The property was beautiful - light and airy with lovely views over the glen and Uig bay yet also cosy and warm. It was one of the best properties we have stayed in and a delight to return to each evening. The owner was extremely helpful and the information pack contained a lot of useful detail about the local area and attractions. Sept 2010.
  10. Staying on Skye was a risk, since the weather is so unpredictable - however the cottage was completely dry and cosy, well equipped for what could have been a week indoors! In particular there were loads of games, books, music, DVDs etc. As it turned out the weather was good and we made good use of the many guide books to plan our outings. We didn’t meet the owner, unfortunately, but she was very helpful on the phone and there were some nice personal welcoming touches. Aug 2010.
  11. The property had been fully refurbished to an excellent standard. All fittings and furnishings were of a very high quality and everything worked perfectly making it a real ’home from home’ and an excellent base for exploring (in our opinion) the most picturesque area of the island. our two children under five were very excited by it and the garden was very safe and secure for them to run around in. All in all the property far exceeded our expectations. June 2010.
  12. Beautifully refurbished, tastefully furnished with stunning views. June 2010.
  13. Delightful accommodation.Very quiet retreat. Super views of mountains and sea. May 2010.
  14. Fantastic place - couldn’t rate it too highly. Oct 2009.
  15. Very comfortable and well renovated in a way that kept the cottage’s character but also felt modern. The kitchen was well equipped and we enjoyed the wood burning stove. Aug 2009.
  16. Well maintained, warm and comfortable, welcoming, peaceful location, well equipped. Aug 2009.
  17. Very nice house and lovely surroundings. July 2009.
  18. Beautiful property, well presented and spotlessly clean. June 2009.
  19. It was one of the most pleasant cottages we ever visited, friendly people, clean, modern, great views. June 2009.
  20. This was a really thoughtful property with excellent facilities, a real home from home. Whilst the pictures were accurate, they didn’t do the property justice. May 2008.
