Property Description

Just 4 miles from Bude’s beaches and its many traditional seaside attractions, these very spacious and unusual, colonial-style holiday properties each have their own garden and command wonderful views across the countryside towards Widemouth Bay and the sea. The setting on the main Holsworthy to Bude road is very convenient for exploring this delightful corner of North Cornwall. Thurlibeer Cottage, ref T78, also enjoys sea views.
As well as shops, inns, restaurants and its Historical and Folk Museum, Bude has three large sandy beaches popular with surfers (with lifeguard patrol in summer), one with a very large sea-water swimming pool. Its sports facilities include a superb 18-hole golf course, tennis and squash courts, Splash leisure centre and ten pin bowling. Delightful walking can be found nearby on the picturesque North Cornwall Coastal Footpath, and also along the towpath of Bude’s canal (the Planekeepers Path) – 3 miles of quiet level walking of special interest to wildlife and birdlife lovers which begins ½ mile from the property and leads to Summerleaze Beach in Bude. Fishing is also available in the canal (some of the finest coarse fishing waters in the west). Further afield, but within easy driving distance, are the historic coastal villages of Boscastle, Tintagel, Hartland Quay and Clovelly. The well-known Tree Inn at Stratton is 1½ miles. Shop and the Red Post Inn with fish and chips takeaway is ½ mile away.

  1. Thurlibeer house and cottage make great family house - all we could have wished when on holiday with 3 generations of the family, there was plenty of room to have a quiet corner away from the baby and the dog. The property was an great base to explore the Bude area. July 2012.
  2. We rented the cottage and the house and had oodles of space for 13 adults, 2 children and 2 babies. We did have to ask the owner to enable us to link to Internet, and to reset the heating controls as it got very cold at night, and he was very helpful. Glorious views and a comfortable stay.   11. After spending a week in this cottage with 6 adults and my 2 year old grandson, I would emphasise the safety, privacy and cleanliness of this cottage. Visiting Clovelly, Tingagel and the surrounding areas of Bude is more than worth visiting. This cottage was very spacious. There was plenty of room for all, but I was really impressed as it was so suitable for my 2 year old grandson, with a conservatory and garden so safe and child friendly. Aug 2009.

  14. Fantastic views, loads and loads of space for family and dog, the extra telly also meant no squabbles when weather was bad. I was upset to see this cottage is booked in August when we have booked our next leave. Guess we’ll have to go elsewhere but will be looking to come again. May 2009.
