These purpose-built holiday cottages (refs 24574, 27255 and 27257) have been constructed or converted from the original farmhouse buildings and an old Welsh longhouse. Welsh craftsmanship at its best - only the finest local tradesmen and materials have been used for the conversion of these buildings. They are situated in an elevated position on the edge of Broadlay near Ferryside on the old pilgrim road to St David’s Cathedral a half mile from the Three Rivers Hotel and Spa. Guests are welcome to use all the facilities at the hotel such as the swimming pool. There is generous amenity space and a country adventure play area for small accompanied children. The complex is on the local bus route which connects to Carmarthen via the hotel and Ferryside railway station. In the opposite direction, Kidwelly and Swansea are en route. Ferryside is uncommercialised, peaceful and quiet; the ideal getaway for a perfect weekend (or longer) break. It is also, due to its proximity to Carmarthen, Llanelli and other centres, an ideal corporate meeting place. Kidwelly, with its Norman castle, industrial heritage museum, Pembrey Country Park and Motorsport Centre, within approximately 10 minutes’ travelling time. The National Botanical Gardens, Laugharne (famous for Dylan Thomas’ Boathouse) and many Pembrokeshire attractions are about half an hour’s drive. There are many places to visit including Dylan Thomas’ cottage, where he spent the last years of his life. The Millennium Coastal Cycle Path, part of the national cycle path network, meanders through approximately 20 miles of local coastline, passing through local areas of interest. Places to visit include Kidwelly Castle, the Penclawydd Wildfowl Centre, and the Loughor Estuary with views of the Mumbles Peninsula south of Swansea. Shop, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

All on ground floor: Living/dining room with French doors and wooden floor/kitchen. 2 bedrooms: 1 double (5ft), 1 single with additional pull-out single (for child). Bathroom with shower over bath and toilet.

Gas included. High chair. Digital TV. Gas cooker. Tumble dryer. Lawned garden with patio, sitting-out area and furniture. Pets free of charge.

All properties: Oil central heating, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Travel cot. DVD. Microwave. Washing machine. Dishwasher. Fridge/freezer. Shared use of landscaped gardens. Ample parking. Shared indoor swimming pool (12m x 6m, depth 1.3m to 1.5m, open daily 7am - 10pm) with changing and shower facilities, Jacuzzi, gym, sauna, steam room, games room and solarium (in hotel, 500 yards). No smoking. NB: There are farm vehicles on display and significant drops within the grounds.

Excellent for walks, garden and track right outside the back door and the beach was 1/2 mile away. Lovely fire to return to which kept us toastie warm! Would definitely go back! Dec 2011.

  3. The Cart Shed was the perfect rural yet seaside base for us in this lovely part of the country. Very well appointed and thoughtfully laid out, the accommodation had all we needed for a great family holiday. The owners were helpful and on hand at almost any time to assist with any queries. And the use of the nearby pool certainly made up for lack of beach weather! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you. Aug 2011.
  4. Fantastic little cottage, peaceful location, spa/pool facilities at hotel great, and we used daily.Hotel staff and owner very welcoming and helpful. Great base to visit Gower and its fantastic sandy beaches, most empty so great for dogs. Tips for owner: 1 - House perfect but little tidy needed to courtyard. 2 - Tide times would be handy for ferryside beach as comes in fast and cuts you off. 3 - Lamp in lounge would be nice as when looking up a tv, main light too bright, (we used bedroom lamp). 4 - Few more plates. 5 - Lots of wasps check for nest. Overall though really enjoyed stay and would recomend and come again. Thank you. Aug 2011.
  5. The accommodation was sent in a very quite and isolated location. For us that is just what we wanted and really enjoyed our stay; however, for some it might be considered a bit too isolated as there was quite a car journey to the nearest town. But as I said, for us this was just what we wanted. July 2011.

  7. The cottage was lovely - refurbed with all mod cons, clean and fresh. The use of the hotel’s facilities is a real bonus (pool, sauna, steam room). It’s also near a great beach and within reasonable access of a variety of day trips (e.g. B. Beacons, Pemb’shire coast, Folly Farm etc). March 2011.

  12. A delightful barn conversion, compact but perfectly adequate. The cottage backs on to a field with some ponies in, a wonderfully quiet setting! The staff at the hotel were amazingly helpful and friendly - we had a fabulous time. May 2010.
