Property Description

Dinghy for hire

A unique building converted into an unusual holiday residence, situated in secluded and unspoilt woodland. A listed building of architectural and historic interest, it may have been used for storing grain. The water beneath the arch enabled trading wherries to load their wares from above. There is ample mooring space and a dinghy, which is ideal for fishing or water excursions. Shop and pub within a quarter of a mile. Norwich is still considered to be the capital of East Anglia and remains attractive and prosperous. The cathedral and castle dominate the city. They lie within easy reach of each other and close to many of the other historic buildings admired by visitors, making this an interesting place to explore on foot. As well as historic interest, Norwich is a shoppers’ paradise, as well as traditional high-street stores and a modern mall, Norwich has many charming specialist shops and a large open-air market. A day out at the seaside is a must for the children, Great Yarmouth offers all the traditional seaside attractions, whilst Caister, a little quieter, has a wide sandy beach and sand dunes. If sailing the Broads beckons, then you can hire a day boat from nearby Wroxham and spend a day on one of the busiest stretches on the Broads, stopping off for a well earned meal in one of the waterside restaurants before heading back to the seclusion of your holiday cottage. Wherry Arch has something for everyone. Shop 1/4 mile.

Ground floor: Dining room/kitchen. Shower room with toilet. Cloakroom. First floor: Living room with French door. 3 bedrooms: 2 double, 1 bunk. Shower room with toilet. Annexe: 1 double bedroom (no direct access to main building except via balcony).

Ample parking. Couples and family bookings only. NB: There is an unfenced water filled dyke. Although there are beds for 6+2, maximum occupance is 6+1 guests.

Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. Our second visit to this beautiful cottage, our third will follow next year having already booked. The cottage has the most amazing setting surrounded by large gardens and right beside a dyke. It is ideal for children with the garden large enough for games and fishing right on the doorstep. It is a haven for wildlife with otters, kingfishers and deer regular visitors. The cottage is comfortable with everything that you require. There is a lovely welcome pack from the owner. For anyone wanting a holiday to get away from it all this is the cottage to book. June 2012.
  2. A unique property in a lovely, tranquil location. So good we’ve just booked to go back again later this year! May 2012.
  3. The House was all that was expected..under priced for it’s locality and size. We managed to catch the last of the Sun for a very warm October. Fun fishing from the garden or great for wild life shots. Very pleasant stay and well recommended if you want to get away from it all. Oct 2011.
  4. Very comfortable and well-equipped. Lovely, peaceful location but not isolated. Oct 2011.
  5. This property is in a perfect location. Not only the fact that it is situated over a dyke with lots of, swans, ducks and other wildlife visiting every day, but its in a great position to go out and sight see around Norfolk/Suffolk. The house itself is lovely, a bit old fashioned inside but clean and tidy. The views from the back of the house are wonderful. I would definitely recommend the place. Sept 2011.
  6. The cottage is about 10 miles from Norwich, 20 miles from Great Yarmouth and a 10 minute drive into Wroxham. On arriving we were surprised at the beauty of this cottage. The photos on the web really don’t do it justice. The owner has thought of everything, inside and out. Spotlessly clean and well equipped. Fishing on site, rowing boat to hire. The dyke goes out into Barton Broad. Swans come every morning. We took 6 kids between 10 and 14 and they all enjoyed being out in the fresh air! A great holiday was had by all and we were blessed with lovely weather for the week. Would definitely recommend for a quiet holiday and would return to this beautiful place. Aug 2011.
  7. If you are looking for tranquillity and peace The Wherry Arch is the place to go. Nature at its best. Kingfishers, Herons and Swans were regular visitors. We even had a Roe Deer. The property is beautifully clean and caters well for guests. A 2 minute walk down the lane leads to a viewing station for Barton Broad. There is also an alternative disabled entrance. 200 yards away from the entrance you can walk down a tiny lane that leads to the mooring and pick up point of The Solar Boat which takes you for a peaceful trip around the local Broads. I highly recommend this boat trip but advise you phone to book as the boat is very limited. Wroxham/Hoveton is the nearest town. There is also a wide variety of boats that can be hired. Your nearest supermarket is here as well. There are many children’s attractions, supplying you with an endless choice of entertainment. A highly recommended holiday destination/accommodation. Aug 2011.
  8. Interesting house in very quiet location, large garden area, some wildlife, with easy access by boat to Barton Broad. July 2010.
  9. Wonderful waterside location, peaceful and quiet with just the sound of birds and waterfowl. June 2010.
  10. It was spotlessly clean, everything we needed. Sept 2009.
  11. The accommodation was very quiet and pleasant to wake up in the morning to see swans, kingfishers, pheasants as you look out of the windows was really nice. Sept 2009.
  12. Perfect peaceful setting with so much interesting wildlife to watch. Very useful to be able to tie up our sailing boat at the end of the garden. July 2009.
  13. We felt comfortable straight away, with milk, tea, and biscuits there to welcome us. It fully met the brochure description. The visitors book showed that people kept coming back many times, which speaks for itself. July 2009.
  14. Very pretty garden and very relaxing atmosphere. Aug 2008.
  15. Whilst the brochure picture of the property is good, it is only front view and fails to adequately reflect the delightful rear aspect onto the creek. July 2007.
  16. The pictures did not do justice to the property which was quaint and gardens which were colorful, large and interesting (apple trees, Woodland) Wonderful. Loads of space for children, idyllic setting. We even had our own visiting swan and the rowing boat, mooring was an adventure. Aug 2006.
  17. This property has an idyllic waterside location, which is also very peaceful and private. Oct 2006.
