Down a quiet leafy lane in beautiful countryside just 2 miles from the shores of Coniston Water , this very spacious and attractive, traditional Lakeland house is set in its own private garden. Built in 1767, it enjoys superb views over Lakeland fells, and has been carefully restored whilst retaining many original features to offer comfortably furnished and well equipped family accommodation. Many activities can be enjoyed in the immediate vicinity, including walking on fell, lakeside or mountain, sailing, wind-surfing and canoeing. The shores of Morecambe Bay are just 2½ miles away, where sea fishing is available. At the Grizedale Forest Enterprise Centre (4 miles), mountain bikes can be hired to cycle along the many forest trails which link the majority of the numerous stone and wood sculptures scattered among the trees. Kendal, the ‘Gateway to the Lakes’, is well worth a visit for its museums, art galleries and pretty cafés and tearooms. The nearby Levens Hall boasts beautifully trimmed topiary gardens as well as a steam-engine collection and café. Lake Windermere 20 minutes’ drive with Bowness a further 10 minutes. Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. Ideal for a large family gathering. Well positioned to access many of the Lake District attractions. Very well equipped. Oct 2011.
  2. Great location for a relaxed holiday with extended family. The Vicarage felt like a home from home (albeit on a bigger scale!) for 12 of us and a very happy Labrador. Aug 2011.
  3. The Vicarage is a lovely property and suited our needs perfectly. It is extremely well equipped and we enjoyed cooking on the Aga. I would recommend the Vicarage to any large party (max 13) especially for family/friends reunion. The owner, Gary, is very friendly and helpful and the cleaners likewise. Lowick Bridge is just inside the national park and a little out of the way - but as long as you are prepared for this its not a problem. Great pub (Red Lion) nearby with reasonably priced food and real ale. July 2011.
  4. Very spacious, lots of facilities ie cutlery and pans etc. a real home from home, highly recommended, the pictures on the website don’t do it justice, lots of parking, enough for at least 6 cars. Dec 2010.
  5. Close to friendly pub, parking good, easy access in bad weather. Nov 2010.
  6. We liked the atmosphere, the amount of bedrooms, the 2 sitting rooms and the kitchen. Oct 2010.
  7. The property was perfect for our large family get together. It was clean and welcoming. There was plenty of crockery and cooking utensils. We didn’t have to worry about anything. April 2010.
  8. Excellent selection of games. The children enjoyed the garden. July 2008.
  9. Just the space we needed for our 4 generation holiday. March 2008.
  10. Very suitable for the large group Agga was exciting to use. July 2008.
  11. Pictures do not show just how nice the vicarage is. Jan 2006.
