Situated on a working farm, this ’upside down’ detached barn backing onto the orchard, with fine views, adjacent to an AONB, is ideal for couples and small families. There is excellent walking from the holiday property and on the Mendip Hills together with great bird watching locally and on the Somerset Levels. The area abounds with places of interest including beautiful Wells and its superb cathedral, Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole Caves, Longleat, Glastonbury Tor and the Georgian Heritage City of Bath. Great beaches at Weston-super-Mare. Shop and pub ½ mile.

Ground floor: 2 bedrooms: 1 double, 1 twin. Shower room with toilet. First floor: Living room with beams/dining room/kitchen.

Gas central heating, gas, electricity, bed linen and towels included. CD. Gas hob. Electric oven. Microwave. Washer/dryer. Dishwasher. Paved garden area and furniture. Parking (1 car). No smoking.

  1. A wonderful cottage with very friendly hosts - will go back again ( this is our 2nd visit). June 2012.
  2. The Threshing Barn was great- beautifully converted, spacious, clean, well-equipped (including a dishwasher- you don’t want to be washing up on holiday!) and in a lovely rural location. Awoke to the sound of sheep and birdsong. We enjoyed access to public footpaths across fields and the village shop and pub were only a few minutes walk away. We stayed for a week but could have spent longer there as it was a great base from which to explore the countryside (armed with OS map and GPS!), Glastonbury, Wells, Longleat House and Safari Park, Cheddar and Ebbor Gorge. Didn’t make it to the beach at Weston-Super-Mare but did find some bargains at Street shopping village! Overall, a really enjoyable, relaxing break. March 2012.
  3. Compact but well furnished and presented throughout. Well situated for lots of attractions, Cheddar Gorge is a must for all ages. Nov 2011.

  9. The children enjoyed being near to sheep and ducks. Helping to collect cider apples and seeing the community help in operating an old fashioned cider press was memorable. The owners were helpful and friendly but in no way obtrusive. The children liked the upside down nature of the rooms e.g. bedrooms and bathroom on ground floor. The property’s location made a superb base from which to explore the area. Oct 2010.

  18. We were there in very cold weather but the property was warm and cosy. It was also very light and roomy for the size. Equipment was generous in quantity and it was useful having a washer/dryer and dish washer. Fresh tree branches with unusual catkins greeted us on arrival. Feb 2010.
  19. The property was exactly as described, very comfortable, has all the home comforts, ie washing machine, dish washer etc. Great location, very convenient for Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole. Aug 2009.
  20. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The accommodation was well equipped, clean and comfortable. The situation was idyllic (helped by the weather which was glorious, we had to buy suntan lotion in April!). Altogether a very enjoyable and relaxing week. April 2009.
