Surrounded by beautiful mature parkland, this holiday cottage, a Listed Irish Heritage Building, is situated on the Fortgranite Estate and enjoys a wonderfully peaceful setting, with views of the Wicklow mountains. Ideal for a relaxing country break at any time of the year, with free trout fishing within walking distance, and a golf course just 3 miles away. Baltinglass boasts abbey ruins and a large hill fort with a Bronze Age cairn. The Wicklow mountains offer excellent walking and pony-trekking, or a drive along the Military Road, which passes through the heart of the mountains, takes in the finest Wicklow scenery. The Curragh and Punchestown racecourses are both within 20 miles, and there are some superb gardens to visit. Powerscourt Gardens, near Enniskerry, has formal gardens with fine views over the surrounding countryside, as well as the highest waterfall in Ireland. The village of Stradbally boasts a steam museum with a collection of fire engines, steam tractors and steam rollers, all lovingly restored. During the 3-day Steam Rally in early August the 40 hectares of Cosby Hall are taken over with all types of steam-operated machines and vintage cars. Just an hour’s drive away, through lovely hill country, are some of the best beaches on the east coast, especially at Brittas Bay. Tennis and riding 3 miles.
