There is also a Sea Life Marine Sanctuary as well as Victorian Funicular Railway to enjoy. The town boasts a wonderful Spa Theatre complex, home to the UK’s last seaside orchestra, which offers a programme of music, theatre, ballet and comedy, and Peasholm Park is a popular venue for with its boating and activities for children. This oriental themed park with mini waterfalls, wooden bridges crossing trickling streams and an abundance of wildlife also has a putting green, model naval warfare, cafe and champion tree trail.
Dalby Forest is about 20 minutes by car with cycle trails and Go Ape with its high wires and tree top adventure. The ancient sea port of Whitby, where Captain Cook learned his trade, is a short drive away and is home to an abbey, colourful harbour and marina.
