Property Description

Set within 3 acres of beautiful grounds, this comfortable south-facing holiday cottage has wonderful countryside views and a trout stream to the front and French doors leading from the living room out to the lawned garden with furniture. The cottage adjoins the owners’ 18th century country house on the edge of the peaceful village of Long Marton. Situated between the Lakes and the Pennines with walks from the front door, the market town of Appleby with its golf course, swimming pool and shops is only 3 miles away. Pub 300 yards.

Ground floor: Living room with French doors. Dining room/kitchen. Shower room with toilet. First floor: 3 bedrooms: 1 double, 2 twin (one leading from double).

Open fire in living room included. Oil central heating, electricity and bed linen included. DVD. Electric cooker. Microwave. Washing machine. Private grounds and garden with furniture. Shared enclosed rear garden. Barbecue. Parking (3 cars). No smoking. NB: Access to the unfenced river is through a gate from the grounds.

  2. The Rookery is set in a beautiful village and with lots of garden space and it is ideal for anyvody taking dogs. The pub in the village served very good meals and the villagers are very friendly. I would recommend this property to anybody who loves lovely countryside which is within easy reach by car to both Yorkshire and the Lakes. There is so much to do in the area we can’t wait to go back. The weather was cool at night but the house was lovely and warm. April 2012.

  4. Thoroughly enjoyed staying in this cottage. What a fabulous setting, very quiet and peaceful, with stunning views from living room French windows and the views of the hills from the kitchen and second bedroom. The accommodation was very comfortable with all appliances available. The owners were very welcoming and a lovely welcome pack awaited our arrival. Would and have recommended this property to family and friends. We will also be making a return visit. The property is excellent value for money. Feb 2012.

  14. Nice, spacious place. Lovely coal fire with wood/coal provided as well as good central heating. Handy for the Lakes and Yorkshire Dales, plenty to do within a short drive. Would seriously consider going back - and this time we would remember to take towels! Oct 2008.
