Property Description

This compact detached holiday cottage is located in the peaceful, historic Mendip village of Priddy, midway between Wells and Cheddar, and provides an ideal base for walking and touring the surrounding countryside and attractions. Priddy’s Green is famous for the annual Sheep Fair which has been held since 1348, when it moved from Wells because of the Black Death, and the associated hurdle stack is a distinctive landmark. ‘Nine Barrows’ (burial mounds) are visible on the horizon from many vantage points. Nearby is the impressive Cheddar Gorge; Wookey Hole Caves and the cathedral city of Wells are at the foot of the slopes; Glastonbury Tor and Abbey are also close. Climbing, gliding, mountain biking, shooting and golf are all possible. Shop and pubs 400 yards, restaurants 5 miles.

Oil underfloor central heating, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Freeview TV. DVD. Electric cooker. Patio with sitting-out area and furniture. No smoking. Friday to Friday. NB: 3 steps in garden.

  1. We really enjoyed our stay at The Pen. It was warm, light and comfortable, and our dog was welcome. There were steps down from the cottage, which may be awkward for some, but it was ideal for two. June 2012.
  2. Lovely little bolt hole for discovering Somerset and North Devon. The owners have created a smart, modern cottage for two within an existing old structure. The property is open plan with a smart kitchen, living and dining area, a double bedroom and a modern shower room. The village is quiet with a couple of nice pubs however, ideally between Cheddar, Glastonbury and Wells and great jumping in the car and touring the area. Highly recommended. May 2012.

  4. Priddy is a little English gem! You cannot help but fall in love with it. The cottage is perfectly positioned with the most wonderful outlook from all windows. Waking up in the morning and watching the geese opposite bating in the bath and chickens roaming free is such a delight. The cottage was just perfect for us with everything you would need for a comfortable stay. We will be returning. Definitely. April 2012.

  6. It was such a relaxing and comfortable stay, just wished we could of stayed longer. Views were fabulous and nearby pubs very welcoming. Would definitely go back. Feb 2012.
  7. The penn was very good value for money. We really enjoyed our stay. Loads of places to visit, our favourite being, Hestercombe gardens were we got engaged in the beautiful grounds. Nov 2011.
  8. A fantastic little cottage. In lovely countryside with great views, a compact but extremely well equipped and clean and comfortable cottage. Enough to do in the area for a fortnight and lovely walks around the area. We will be going back next year. Sept 2011.
  9. This cottage may be small but it has everything you could possibly need or want for a comfortable & relaxing break. There is plenty to see & do in the surrounding area yet the cottage itself is in a quiet & peaceful location if you just want to get away from it all. Would definitely recommend staying here & would love to visit again in the near future! Aug 2011.
