Property Description

This former pavilion house is set in the grounds of historic Killerby Hall which dates back to 1849. The property is extensively renovated, and retains many original features with an exquisitely designed interior with finest attention to detail. With views of the Hall, its grounds and countryside beyond, this detached holiday home is close to the stunning beaches of Cayton Bay which is ideal for surfing and has plenty of shops, elegant Scarborough, with harbour, beaches, cafes, amusements, arcades, theatres, parks and 12th-century castle ruins, or the small town of Filey. Just over an hour’s drive away is the old smuggling village of Robin Hood’s Bay - step back in time and explore the tumbling fishermen’s cottages which line the cobbled streets all the way down to the sandy little cove. Just a little further afield is the historic port of Whitby - famed for its connections with Captain James Cook and Dracula, it also boasts a 3-mile stretch of award-winning sandy beach. Visit the spa town of Harrogate with its RHS Harlow Carr gardens and Betty’s Tearoom which is a must, and the walled city of York with attractions for all the family including the Castle Museum, Yorkshire Museum, JORVIK Viking Centre, the York Art Gallery, Richard III Museum, the National Railway Museum and the Merchant Adventurers’ Hall. Across the North Yorkshire Moors, a trip from Pickering on a steam train is the ideal way to view Heartbeat country. Visit the RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton Cliffs with breathtaking views across the coast to Filey Brigg and Flambrough Head. Shop ½ mile, pub 1 mile.

  1. The Pavilion is an absolutely beautiful property, I would say the best we have stayed at – the photos really do not do it justice. Each bedroom is beautifully finished with coordinating touches and the bathrooms are amazing. The lounge/diner/kitchen area is a huge wow factor. As there were seven of us in our group we spent a lot of time in this area and it is so large that it never felt cramped. The Pavilion has every item you would could possibly need. The outside space is amazing – a huge decked area with views over fields and stables. Suzie (the owner) and Paula (who was looking after the house while Suzie and her family were away) were so friendly and couldn’t not do enough for us. The house was spotless when we arrived with a huge tray of cakes in the fridge – delicious! It was also really nice to note that they had supplied toilet roll, hand wash, washing up liquid etc. The house is a 5-10 minute walk to the nearest shop and pub and about 5 minutes drive to the nearest supermarket (Morrisons). I would definitely recommend this property to anyone wishing to stay in the area and hope that we will be able to stay here again very soon. June 2012.
  2. A beautiful house in wonderful surroundings, as good as the photos on the website are, they don’t do it justice, you have to be there to appreciate it. Such a warm welcome from the owner and nothing was too much trouble for her and her family. Ooh and those fresh cream scones that were waiting for us, scrumptious. May 2012
  3. Wow, The Pavillion was even better than expected, every detail from the house design to the little touches by Suzanne was 110%. Peaceful location, perfect accommodation, ideal for all, My son’s loved the house as much as we did especially the horse’s and chickens. Suzanne made us feel like the house was our’s and nothing was too much trouble. All the information inside from days out to restaurants and take away menus were a real bonus. Will definitely be back as this was the perfect holiday home. April 2012.
  4. If you are going to The Pavillion House you will not be disappointed. It is absolutely amazing!! We had the BEST week there! March 2012.
  5. Having enjoyed cottage holidays for over 30 years, this is the best that we have ever had. We defy anyone to do it better, the attention to detail is quite remarkable. We expected it to be nice from the website but in reality it was much, much more. Superb accommodation that well justifies it’s 5star rating. We’ll definitely be going back. Oct 2011.
  6. The property was immaculate, we have stayed in many 5* cottages but none as clean as this. We had a very warm and genuine welcome and nothing was too much effort for the owner. The cottage was very well equipped and very modern and stylish. We could find nothing to complain about at all. Oct 2011.
  7. Wonderful accommodation and a very friendly welcome. It’s one of the nicest places our group have stayed in 10 years of holidays around the UK. Sept 2011.
  8. The Pavillion provided excellent facilities for our large party. The fact that all bedrooms were ensuite was a huge bonus with four teenagers in the party. The owner was very helpful with recommendations for places to eat and visit and it was lovely to be greeted with fresh cream scones on our arrival. It was these little touches that added so much to our thoroughly enjoyable stay. Aug 2011.
  9. This deserves more than 5 stars, best cottage by far that we have been in, and we have holidayed in over 40 cottages to date. Excellent hospitality and friendliness from owners and family. June 2011.
  10. The Pavillion is by far the best of your cottages we have stayed in, it would not look out of place on "Grand Designs" on TV. June 2011.
  11. The accommodation was perfect for 4 couples, as each bedroom had a bathroom. Everything was spotless and luxurious and the property well deserved its 5* rating. The owner was very helpful and welcoming. Jan 2011.
  12. The Pavilion is probably the best place we have stopped in, great location and accommodation, lovely helpful owner, furnishings and fittings to a high standard, what not could you want? Sept 2010.
  13. The Pavilion was beyond our expectations, we could not fault the property or the owner and her family. They made us feel so welcome and were so helpful with local information, a wonderful welcome awaited us. The best property we have stayed in, would love to think we will be able to visit again. Sept 2010.
  14. The Pavilion House is beautifully furnished and in a prime position for exploring the Yorkshire Coastline. The owners cannot do enough to help and we could find no fault. July 2010.
