Property Description

Yeo Farm is a small country estate nestling in the picturesque hamlet of Waterrow on the Somerset/ Devon border at the foot of the Brendon Hills. Walkers and dog owners are welcome at these adult only farm cottages and a dog welcome pack is provided! Comprising some 40 acres of woodland, pasture, ponds and the River Tone, the farm also has fishing rights for over half a mile, and a riverside walk has been made to enjoy the natural flora and fauna present in this area. The 16th-century farmhouse has been restored and is the home of the resident owners, whilst the cottages (Refs ERE, ERF, and ERG) have been sympathetically converted from former farm buildings and comprise three adjoining character cottages which enjoy wonderful views over the estate. The cottages have been renovated and refurbished to a high standard, and offer all modern conveniences and comfort in this stunning setting.
Yeo Farm provides an excellent base for countryside pursuits and walking, with the Brendons, Quantocks and Blackdown Hills nearby. On the doorstep is the Exmoor National Park which has been designated the first International Dark Sky Reserve in Europe (telescope on request). Horses are welcome. Many historic houses and gardens in the vicinity. Coast 13 miles. There is coarse, fly and sea fishing available; golf 4 miles; hard tennis courts and outdoor swimming pool 1½ miles; clay and game shooting by arrangement. Shops 1½ miles, local gastro pub 1 mile.

  2. This is the second time we have stayed at The Old Stables. The accommodation is very good. The rooms are spacious and nicely furnished. The grounds are beautiful to explore. If the weather had been better picnics by the river would have been an option. Robert and Pam are excellent hosts and provide a delicious cream tea on arrival. The Rock Inn at Waterrow is well worth a visit for lunch or dinner. It is about 20 mins walk away through the grounds and a quiet country lane. Sept 2012.

  6. The Old Stables in a top class conversion into a fabulous holiday cottage on Yeo Farm. The Farm is set in some 40 acres and is very well located for walking, visiting Exmoor, and the local pub, The Rock Inn, is just a mile walk along a quiet country lane. The pub offer very good food and a friendly service. July 2011.

  9. High quality barn conversion. Comfortable and well equipped. Warm welcome with cream tea and a bottle of wine. Quiet location but convienient for access to a main road to get out to nearby attractions/towns e.g. 20 mins to Taunton. Clear directions provided to find the house. No mobile signal in cottage or nearby villages. Cottage is connected to 2 other holiday lets and is on the owner’s estate, near to their house but the layout means reasonable privacy all round. Good parking. Only possible improvement would to provide a sofa (lounge only has comfy armchairs) so people on a romantic get-away can sit together! May 2011.
