Property Description

This detached holiday home is situated on the owner’s working farm and stands at the foot of the Pennines (Dufton Pike) in the beautiful Eden Valley. The cottage is cosy, comfortable and well furnished. This is an excellent location for walking the Pennine Way and numerous other local footpaths and cycle ways. For those wishing to tour, you will enjoy the pretty villages and local farmers’ markets and village shows. The Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks are just 45 minutes away. Shop 1 mile, pub/restaurant 11/2 miles.

Ground floor: Living room with beams and flag stone floor. Dining room/kitchen with beams. Bathroom with bath, shower cubicle and toilet. First floor: 3 bedrooms: 1 double (5ft), 2 twin. Separate toilet.

Open fire in living room included. Oil central heating included (£20per week November-March). Electricity, bed linen and towels included. Travel cot. High chair. DVD. CD. Electric cooker. Microwave. Washer/dryer in bathroom. Dishwasher. Freezer. Enclosed terrace with sitting-out area and furniture. Parking (3 cars). Natural water supply from spring. Two pets welcome (working farm). No smoking. Friday to Friday.

This is the second time of visiting The old smithy cannot recommend this cottage enough, very comfortable with a cosy real log fire and excellent and well maintained kitchen and bathroom, this is the perfect get away location if your looking for a quiet and relaxing experience. Excellent walks on the hills and pikes right on your doorstep. Feb 2012.
  3. Excellent property on a proper working farm amidst lovely scenery. The owners are friendly and accomodating and happy to let you roam around the farm and even help with the feeding of the animals, which the kids love (and the over excitable grown ups too!) The Old Smithy is beautifully warm cozy clean and has a way of making you not want to leave. The log fire is a pure joy and nothing was nicer than returning after a cold day out! If you are really lucky, there is a special little border terrier that also comes in for a warm up and a custard cream! Will definately be returning. Dec 2011.
  4. We enjoyed the cottage. It would be useful to have an empty cupboard in the kitchen for food storage. Oct 2011.
  5. The cottage was lovely, nice walks straight from the door - watch out for the owners’ border terrier though - she will follow you on walks! March 2011.

Loved the proper open log fire, spent a lot of time reading and dozing on the very comfortable sofas, took trips to nearby Penrith as well s to Keswick, Honister and Windermere so enjoyed amazing scenery despite the (very) low cloud. Perfect place just to chill out and escape for a few days. Everything extremely comfortable and well provisioned. Will definitely visit again. March 2011.

If payment is not received in full on time, we can treat your booking as cancelled by you for a non-refundable reason. If this happens, you will be responsible for cancellation charges (as shown in our main brochure or our website) including any deferred Booking Fee, Personal Travel Insurance and Ferry crossings that you have chosen to buy, all of which must be paid immediately..
